So what would you budget and what debt would you allow at the end of next season?

It goes without saying that the recruitment has to be good.

But it will be very hard to strengthen to the necessary degree only spending £35m, even with good recruitment.

Spending £35m would almost guarantee relegation. Burnley spent £130m and went down with a whimper.

He'd barely play but you'd assume for the dressing room, but I think he's been put out to grass down there and probably not leave,Dunk on the other hand still has some use in him if he'd come, seemed a bit reckless with his challenges,or the refs have developed a different technique nowadays, and of course they have the don't really make any, soon well be back at Leeds/Chelsea levels in the mid sixties!

As I said on another thread, doug will have the 3rd lowest net worth in the prem next season. With the 4th lowest being a billionaire. The shining light in this though is he is one above Brentfords owner which shows that smart recruitment and not going crazy can work.

You say that but he’s played quite regularly for a good Brighton team this year

Well, I’ve read that we’d get around £120m for going up in tv rights. I have no idea what we’ll get in sponsorship or player sales, but we’re near capacity on ticket sales already and still in negative operating costs.

The club is in debt to the tune of (£50m) for which interest burdens come due next year. Operating loss 24/25 was (£21.5m), I expect higher this season.
Expected increase in operating costs moving to the Premiership for 26/27 is (£40m). Refurbishment for broadcast requirements is (£8m) according to BBC / Sky Sports.

Budget for new players: £35m + player sales AND a debt free club (for a short while) or…?

I get that this sounds negative and not spending to stay up. So all I ask when you fry this post, say what you will BUT communicate how much you would budget for new players AND how much debt you’d let the club carry forward into 2027.

Operating loss includes the player amortisation, which was £14m in the last financial year. That’s not a cash loss. Underlying loss essentially £7m which is nothing really.

Would we get £10m, that was the upper bound estimation as we arent going to take a loss on a Championship striker with his record surely

I know this thread is about signings, but who do we think is actually going to be leaving?

I don't think it will be as many as some think. Realistically there needs to be a few, though.

Seems to be a recruitment and scouting issue if honest.
Spending 130 and failing so hard means at least 100m was spent poorly, very poorly

I would add for clarity all our debt is owed to Doug on a interest free basis outside of the stadium mortgage.

I don't think Torp will be sold. I think he might flourish in the Prem.

Even still I think we can get £10m for him, Doug wouldnt want to lose money on someone who’s a proven goalscorer at Championship level

FL will want to expand the squad to about 26-28 with all being 'ready for action, therefore I cannot find a reason why people want to get rid of Simms? If we have Wright and possibly one more forward fighting for the first team place Simms is a more than capable back up.
I read people making lists of all the players we should get rid of, why? They are part of the squad and why change the whole dynamics of a squad when it was those dynamics that got us promoted. You don't change for the sake of change. you change to improve. If we brought in 6 new players that are better than what we have they will naturally bring the quality of the squad up a notch. However do we do it all at once or 4 in the summer and 2 more in the winter? Look at the Tank, his introduction took us up a little and players around him performed better, that is what is needed.
