Lots of selfish behaviour on here. Surely not a problem to sit down for the benefit of everyone??
Perhaps we're just too gracious for the thought of others. We arrived at Tranmere in plenty of time and headed for the seats we were allocated. Rather than be moved out for being in someone's way we waited and then saw where the empty spaces were and as you said a few extra rows they opened up at the front that had been covered and we sat in there instead for the second half. Perhaps just like those who head for the back we should head for the front if my daughter or dad is with us and ignore that we might be in someone elses place, but as I said we normally look for a space after kick-off before moving to it.
Away games should always be unreserved. If you want to sit, get there early and head to the front. I can’t remember the last time I stood near my seat away from home. Infact, I can’t remember the last time I sat in my season ticket seat at St Andrews or the Ricoh.
So you are reason I miss the first 5 minutes of most games with people turning up and saying to people you are in my seat
No one has ever said it to me so I doubt it. Nobody I know sits in their seat either tbh

I am always in the right block in case anyone does kick off but we usually wait until about one minute to kick off and move somewhere there's a bit more space, or you don't have some idiot shouting 'FORWARD' in your ear every ten seconds. Obviously if it was anywhere near full I would sit in my allocated seat, but I dont really get the problem when everyone has paid the same amount and there are plenty of seats around.Because it doesn’t seem like anybody does? If I was to turn up 5 minutes into the game, I wouldn’t dream of going to look for my seat and kicking someone out of it, I would just find the nearest space. That wasn’t the case at Bristol Rovers as, from what I could see,all seats (seat spaces) were taken. At Burton last season people were asking those stood in front to sit down as, the same as at BR, there was a terrace available. They were just ignored. There are some ignorant people around.It would be a lot easier for it to police itself if so many people weren't anal about sitting in their randomly allocated seat (I can understand for home games, but not away). If you want to stand up, go near the back or the middle behind the goal, If you want to sit, go to the front or the edges, the front is usually the emptiest bit with spare seats, even when it's sold out - presumably due to people all clamoring for the back middle sections to stand (more people fit when standing, although sometimes people do spill into the stairwells).
I was at Tranmere NYD, which was sold out, and actually sat in my seat for once (went into the ground early enough and it was actually a decent seat, lower down, and I wasn't having a day out drinking/singing etc. just wanted to watch the game and go home) but there were loads of empty seats around the front where people were sitting, because most people headed for the back for a sing song and to enjoy a bit of atmosphere.
As long as you go into the bowl bit of the ground at least 10 mins before kick off, then you will find space near where ever you want to be.
Plus half of the seats had bird shit onThe Tranmere game the ticket said you must sit in your allocated seat, always a bit difficult when the steward didn't know where our seats were and half the seats didn't even have numbers on them.
With away games I always try seek out my ticketed seat to avoid any difficulties in the first instance but if its obvious its a sit where you like game then I'm not too fussed. But will always be prepared to move if we are standing in sombodys spot.
At the Ricoh I used to sit all over the place to get a different view.

I'm astonished people do this at home games too. You can literally go online and select the seat you want, so why would you then choose not to sit in it? Very odd. I've had a ticket with the exception of Sixfields for as long as I can remember and can't recall ever not sitting in the seat I'd picked for the season. Always nice to see a few of the same faces around you too.
i just wondered why you wouldn't. Like, if it was in a good spec would you still sit elsewhere?

I think it's safe to assume that people don't have any particular urge to sit in the exact seat (or stand near it) but they do have a particular urge to not have to either negotiate with someone over a seat or end up in a drunken exchange with someone over a seat they've had to move too because someone was in their original seat. Often, both of those situations have ended in violence.
That's just me though. I give a fuck about other people and don't have a "I dont see the problem becauae it doesnt effect me" mentality.

while some people have no doubt had a problem with someone aggressively refusing to move others have no doubt had a problem with people aggressively trying to force a them to sit down when everybody else is standing.
we need to stop projecting here and be rational that it could work sensibly for everybody if people weren’t so rigid about certain things.
