What the fook is 'my side?'

I don't have a side. I have consistently called for Thorn to be given help rather than be sacked.

What side is that exactly?

Letting Thorn see out his contract and giving him a new one are two different things.

Having a manager for half a season and then sacking them gets the club no where.

It hasn't worked since we came into the championship so don't see why it would work now.

Lets fucking go down without fighting then, there you win, don't change anything as it's obviously working, right ? yea lets keep it the same and go down with 25 points, if were lucky.

If carsley who played at prem level much longer than Thorn did, did'nt learn a thing or two about tactics, substitutions, and holding on to a lead, then he must have had his head up his arse for the best part of a decade.

To the Thorn in brigade I would say you have a lack of ambition for the club, and are content with relegation, as you do not want to try anything that may just turn this shit season around, and so proven wrong in your wanting to keep an inept person at management level in his job

This is flaming ridiculous. Everybody's pissed off at what's happening to the club-years and years of non-achievement and boardroom mismanagement have taken its toll on a long suffering fanbase. I hate as much as anyone what the likes of SISU, Richardson and all the rest have done to this club, but bickering over Thorn In/Thorn Out is tiresome, irritating, and doesn't get us anywhere. *Whoever* is in charge while SISU are at the helm will have any players of worth sold under him, and will be given occasional loans and an endless supply of academy graduates in return-the results will *not* change while this remains the case. I am sick of seeing City fans arguing constantly because of what these guys have done to our club; do not give them any more satisfaction.

Just because a fan supports his manager doesn't make him content with relegation.

How ridiculous.

It's not about wining a discussion Rev, if thats how you look at it then I really do feel sorry for you.
We are not in a position where we can keep sacking managers every season, we just can't afford to keep doing that and the last 10 years + have proven it gets you no where.

It was Nonleagueherewe come.

Fully understand the point about forever sacking managers. Certainly something I don't usually advocate at all. Think Dowie should have been given longer, Boothroyd too.

Unfortunately, I did see Coleman as a bit of a clown. Didn't call for his sacking but was glad when he went.

Never said you did Gaz.
I was replying to the thread about people wanting thorn out not being very good at thinking and not to anyone in particular (as I can not remeber who said it), but I just can not see what keeping him as manager will achieve, if you can then please do share it because for me anything is worth a go because I really think we are in for a lot of trouble and heartache if we get relegated.

The sad thing is ICHAN, even if we do stay up this season
All I can see is heartache until we are on a better financial*footing with owners who

a) know what they are doing.

And

B) Actually care.

Interesting thread.

It's clear that the dwindling pro-AT faction has gone from sympathetic to amusing to outright fanatical.

I could understand the loyalty in October, November, maybe early December, but now in February?

The more certain relegation becomes, the greater the hardening of the defence. I can see this trend continuing indefinitely.

It's madness, fellas.

It's the Thorn-out lot that seem fanatical to me. A lot of them are low-brow and talk about him being fat or drunk. Maybe the minority who resort to that level are giving the anti-Thorn lobby a bad name, but they are a vocal minority. I sometimes think that Bantam has 40 or 50 accounts..

CM why is it that I don't ever hear fans with the same view as yours at the games shouting Thorn out ?

Is it because your the minority ?

Think we are going to be in for some serious heartache Gaz myself, I just can not see sisu letting go so easily, as they keep saying they want investment not to sell.

I think they are pre-planning for relegation (may have been at the start of the season)
Lower division lower wages more cost cutting, players out of contract, players sold, more money saved.

They never have given a shit about the club and only wanted what they thought was going to be an easy ride to make big money quick.
The plan has been failling all along and now I think they have got to the point where they will take whatever happens to the club as long as they can cut costs as much as they can, and let the club run within it's means the best it can with as little money as possible invested into it.

So I feel it is irrelevant if we want AT to be manager or not I feel he is going to stay as it is the cheapest option for them.

I think the fans are just numbed by our situation.

Don't think the lack of Thorn out calls particularly points to him having the fans backing.

Think fans are just browbeaten.

Any personal insults against AT are unfair and ill-placed. I'd say the majority of people calling for a change in manager are sympathetic to the job that AT has taken on, and most wish him to remain at the club in another role. But truly, you'd be hard-pressed to find a manager who has kept his team rooted at the bottom of the table for months with such diehard support, utterly opposed to change; that, to me, is fanatical.

Once again, that is the argument of a fanatic. If you think that the majority of fans would not favour a change then you are wilfully blind to the situation.

Nope

It's the argument of a fan who listened to the fans chants at the games.
I hear shouts of support for Thorn at the games.
I don't hear shouts of Thorn out.
That would suggest to me that you and your view is in the minority.

I started this thread in response to the inevitable Thorn Out cries you get after each defeat - as if it's the solution to our problem.

For me, if you think we're bottom of the league because of Andy Thorn then you're not seeing the bigger picture; years of replacing managers to no effect make it all the more hard to believe. I'd be interested to know what formation and style the anti-Thorn'ers suggest with our current playing squad that will resurrect our season.

We all have our own opinion of course.

Those anti-Thorn think those pro-Thorn are being fanatical, whereas those pro-Thorn think those anti-Thorn are being shortsighted.

If there wasn't any passion on here it would be boring after all.

This is a subjective call. Some will feel that this team is beyond hope and is bound for 24th place. Others, such as myself, believe a good manager will be able to lead a legitimate fight against relegation with the available resources. No-one is right or wrong on that, but it is pigheaded to resist the idea of change potentially improving things.

years of replacing managers to no effect

We've had the opposite problem at CCFC - keeping ineffective managers for too long (Strachan, Coleman, Thorn) and too readily replacing the effective ones (Nilsson, Black). IMO the key is to understand that the majority of managers will not be suitable, but you have to be persistent enough with the strategy to land a guy who does get the results.

It's not pigheaded, it's just that the penny has dropped with the majority of Cov fans that a new manager every season gets you no where, as proved over the last decade.

Who would you like to come in and replace Thorn, CM ?

Although it pains me to say it, as I think a lot of your posts are usually well thought, pot and kettle come to mind.

As someone who tars anyone who disgrees with your view on keeping Thorn as screaming girls, you seem to be act like a bit of a baby yourself when people disagree with your view on this point.

Some people want to see a change of manager if only to see if the change may save us, rather than seeing us slowly wilt into Divison One under a manager who is making a successfull attempt (not intentional though) at getting us there.

People disagree, perhaps some should deal with it and accept that there are some who no longer want Thorn as boss, as there are others that I respect differ in opinion.

(Nonleagueherewecome, I think you will find most who want Thorn to go, do so as they either think he is not up to the job or wish to try someone else who may do better, not because he is fat. Perhaps time to move away from that example?)

To repeat: we will never know because CCFC never implemented the strategy correctly. The whole point of chop-and-change is to keep hold of the rare good ones; but we fired Black and Nilsson.

You're correct in asserting that changing every manager every year will be ineffective, but not if we keep hold of the good 'uns.

Who would you like to come in and replace Thorn, CM ?
