There is no right answer to this. One thing on our side Id suggest is voiding leagues would cause uproar with 2 very big clubs in Liverpool and Leeds who would kick up all sorts of fuss if everything was just voided. Almost like being in the hard gang when you're a bit soft. Were in it with 2 teams who need title in/promotion more than most. Had it been Man City and Fulham in those positions I'd be more worried about a voiding situation

I still reckon they should scrap the playoffs and just try and finish the remaining ten games - most teams have less than that to play. Make it a straight scrap for the top three in CH and L1 and top 4 in L2. Do the same for the relegation places. The last thing they'll want to do is extend the season even more with play offs and a final.

Surely the EFL have something written down to account for this sort of situation.?
( that is a challenge for someone off work today to do some digging !)

will be June before we get started again as the immunity builds up and those that it have reach the 10s of 1000s

Again, as per me asking you earlier on...have you seen those in writing or are you making an assumption? Please show me if the former.

To repeat, I'm not being difficult with you G, I would just be astounded if they allowed some of the situations mentioned above, to happen.

They have exemption clauses in all of their rules. Every subsection has clauses. Remember this is a members club who’ve all agreed the rules. A club suing its membership body? Good luck with that

Cancel the FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, Play Offs and Euro 2020 for this season. The leagues to carry on when ready.

As an example look at the Governance section - league can do what it likes

More chance of the league being cancelled from the looks of things... and you know how much they'd love that.

Personally I just don't see how they're not basing the final remaining games (only 8 left in some cases) on the PPG stats and calling it there.

Sunderland have mortgaged their ground against a short term loan so they really will not love that at all

So you think that clubs who would lose out if the season ended unfinished and potentially miss out on increased revenues would simply go 'oh ok, fair enough'?

Can you imagine Joy not doing anything if that were to be the case?!

We've had a great season and I would be frustrated if it was cancelled, suspended, delayed etc

However...

In times like this you have to realise its only a game and theres more on life, like ours and everyone associated with a football club's health.

Best case is every single game is played behind closed doors with free iFollow for season tickets, discounted rate for members and standard fee for everyone else.

Worst case is the season becomes void and we just have to accept it.

This would be one court case I would love SISU to launch. I would imagine all other clubs from Leeds in the Champ to Plymouth in L2 would do the same. They won't cancel 19/20. It will be completed, but maybe not until the summer. We could always start 20/21 a couple of months later. Or - shock horror - the players don't get a couple of months off.

The governance clauses include a sub clause that basically say promotion is at the discretion of the FA - Joy signed it

You can't just change the rules of the competition with ten games to go. Imagine if Corona Virus came about two years ago.

Yep. It's a pity they have nothing specific to cover an event like this and the early termination of a season. Ultimately, they may have to make a decision one way or another, but whatever decision they make, those effected will have to like it or lump it - there is no legal recourse. Like somebody has said above though, having Leeds and Liverpool in our corner is not a bad thing. This is of course if they don't find a way to complete the season.

My thoughts posted on another thread.

Depending on how long it goes on, perhaps next season could be null and void and the time used to complete this one? Teams are always complaining about too many games.

Other option is to postpone the Euros for a year so the top tier clubs to finish this season and start next season with a rest on time. For us (where internationals won't matter) I'd suggest a year without the cup cometitions (or at leaast the likes of Checkatrade and League Cup) to give us more matchdays next year so we can start next season late and catch up over the year.

I don't think another ball will be kicked this season. Infections are going to rise and it will be seen as callous to continue.

There will probably be a vote and as 90% of clubs will benefit from voiding that will be the choice.

"We have to choose the fairest route for all involved" etc

Reminds me of the ex-Bolton chairman who wanted to stop relegation from the Premier League. When Bolton were in the bottom three obviously.

Interesting that Klopp is giving it the high and mighty.

I wonder if they void the Premier League meaning they don't win it he would feel the same?

Ok, cool.

Regardless, they'll still push back on that actually happening. Even the press are reporting that clubs would consider legal action if that's the case.

Why do people think 90% would be in favour of voiding?

I don't get that. Surely there will be so many clubs in with a chance of playoffs, or promotion and teams such as Burnley and Palace and Newcastle and Southampton, who would expect to maybe be in a relegation battle and aren't, plus the likes of Wolves and Sheff Utd who are in with the chance of Europe etc. Surely they would no want the season voiding.

Would have thought it will mainly only be those in danger of going down that are most vocal .

In the Championship, down to 13th place still has a chance of the playoffs

I was quoting the 90% as voiding v cancellation. Carrying on the season won't be an option in my opinion.

Absoluitely. Sunderland and Wycombe have a good chance of a playoff place, so there's no way they would vote for voiding the season. It will just end in the summer.

It should not be cancelled. Behind closed doors is a viable option and games need to be two a week which will take a month given were so close to the end of the season.

Possibly forget the fixture order and just tell clubs they need to work out when they can play their games as soon as possible.

Behind close doors would benefit Sunderland
At home they wouldn't be berated by their fans for 90 minutes
Away their support would sound exactly the same as it normally does

On a serious note, have to agree with those that have said try and get games completed somehow, even if behind closed doors. Then have a shortned break before the new season, with fewer cup competitions.

As an alternative, though probably not as popular, end it now with no relegation. Top 3 or 4 teams go up. More games have to be played but hey ho, thats only half a dozen extra mid-week games or extend the season by few weeks. Then bottom 6 or 7 get relegated next year to even things out.
