I agree. That's my whole point. I went through the "Good" times in the top division and there were players that cared, there were blood & guts tackles and wing runs and crosses, lots of goalmouth action. I would be embarrassed to be a Man City or Chelsea player after turning out that game for paying fans.
The old fashioned kick out from the keeper or wide break down the wing at least led to knock downs or flick on's that often led to something exciting and even if the ball was lost there was an immediate attempt to win it back. Today's game even at our low level is all about possession and it can be like watching chess. Let's somehow get back to Blood & Thunder.

I don't have Sky or BT so my only chance is MOTD.
I watch it if I am at home but don't usually get past the first two or three games

There are some great players in the prem at the moment and statistically the best team of all time (in terms of points accrued). I have to admit that I don't have the same interest as I used to though. I feel a lot of that has to do with the fact that clubs change their managers and players so often, there's no real identity. Still some great football though.

Hardly any British players now. I think in the recent Man City vs Chelsea game there was one British player on each team and one on the bench.
I can remember back when it was almost all British players with just a foreigner here and there.
Of course some of them stand out but a large number of them are just weird anonymous names to me.
Plus I don't watch much TV of any kind now, too busy with other things.

City are no great team. Great teams do not get beaten at a third division team in the cup. City are a decent team playing in an ever declining league.

Lol no

Fa cup has always had upsets. Always. Man city only gsme hsve lost of consequence was when they had 10 men remmeber.

Play best football. Scored most goals. On course for most points in a prem season. Already won league cup and prem os theirs so thats a double minimum with 1 foot in champs league quarters

They are one of best teams i have ever seen in my life. Guardiola is a genius.

I agree, but not sure I want it. Higher ticket prices, a team full of overpaid sulking prima donnas and a constantly changing fixture list to suit TV and opponents with European fixtures. My aspirations have somewhat changed to be more of a Wigan, Barnsley, Bristol City type club.

You are having a laugh. Double and treble winners are great teams, by definition they don't get beat by lower league teams in the cup

And? Thats modern football. Man u have spent loads too. They sre 18pts behinf currently.

He got barca b promoted
He took over barca and got rid of ronadhino and deco and promoted barca b players like pedro
Hes won multiple league titles at barca bayern ans now citt aswell as donestic ups

On top of that he improves players and gets them to play his style. Bayern passed man city off park 2 years ago. Now we cant imagine city misplacing a pass

That shows his coschinf ability that 3 teams play identical. At first people used to say oh its just cos barca academy is taught like that etc

Dudes a genius

And? I like him, he's a good coach. But when assessing whether he's a genius or not you've got to take spend into account.

So take into account his previous c.v then? U judt btoight up his city spend

At bayern he got highest pts tally they ever had. Also best defensive record conceding just 7 or sumthing ridiculous

Hes bout to set prem record for pts too

Barca b he managed a academy team basically. One that has been relegated just before he took over to 3rd divison in spain i think

Where would people rank Man City's team this season compared to the greatest PL teams? Arsenal 2003-2004, Chelsea 2004-2005, Chelsea 2015-16, United 1999-2000 and United 1993-1994. For me the Chelsea team under Mourinho is still the best I've seen as a whole unit

he's setting records because his fellow title challengers are generally poor and have been for a few years hence Leicesters win, (taking nothing away from them).
The strength of the opposition is nothing to do with him of course.

Right up there personally. Stats dont lie. This current era we have 6 amazing big teams(like last season) so fsct man city have made it look like celtic and spl is something special

Also lool at the ehos who of rival amnagers he is up against in england. Mourinho conte klopp wenger pochettino. Yet 18pts clear!

Will be onteresting to see what they go on to achieve under pep. Would be happy to see them or any othrt english team win cl

I think man city or lpool can do it this year actuslly. And never count jose out

Chelsea defending champs
Spurs now consistently brilliant

Arsenal.only team never put up any sort of challenge

Hes made it lool easy. Take city out of it and u have yourself a tasty title race. Also 7th is not close to top 6 despite arsenals shitness so it shows thr big teams are still collecting points

you've got a tasty race in every league from the Championship down, doesn't mean the standard of football is high.
And Liverpool are only brilliant in flashes.
Chelsea's a difficult one because Abramovich usually backs his manager but didn't back Conte in the summer.
As for Man Us 100 million player, I watched him in a game the other week, can't remember who against, and he trotted about and didn't get involved. It was disgraceful.

U miss my point. I am saying sll thr other big teams have respextsble pts totals. Its not like every1 is shit this season otherwise midtsble would not be cut adrift

Also take money into account the opposite way. U have relegation teams with players like arnotovic shaqiri ayew sturridge etc . Our lesser teams eill put up more of a fighr than hes uses to in spain or germany but he still tonked them all the same

P.s pogba has immense talent. He may need a manager that attacks to see best of him tho

I don't agree with mid table La Ligue being weaker than mid table premiership. Results when mid table La Ligue teams play mid table premiership teams in the Europa league would appear to bear that out.
Agree that Pogba is an immense talent, which is why it's a disgrace to see him cantering about the pitch like a love sick puppy.

No i did not mean that. Spanish teams record in europe is amazing mid table wise

But there r a few teams that r tonking fodder and in prem the 20th placed side can do u over. Why we love our league

I'm not saying you're wrong and he's not a genius, his record is amazing. But he's walked into clubs where it's all on a plate for the right man, and to be fair he has been the right man on 3 occasions now.

No, it's retaining the ball, trying to draw the opposition out, to create space, that allows them to play in and attack.

Man City are so far ahead of the rest could be because the rest are pretty average ? The Premier is 3 divisions in one as you've got six or seven at the top, then a large group in the middle, and then others fighting it out at the bottom. Personally I enjoyed the Championship, especially when we played midland clubs and the likes of Leeds, both Sheffield clubs, as the atmosphere was good and most games were lively. Not a big fan of the Premier it's become distant from "real football" and even though I watch games on the telly and in the pub, that's because I like football.
