BTA would be awful as a CAM. He hasn't got the touch, the spatial awareness or the weight of pass / pass accuracy to be even remotely adequate in that position.

His niche is making runs to receive passes and applying pressure to the oppositions defensive line, not in dictating play

BTA played with a precision & touch v Millwall.
Was genuinely shocked. Glad for him.

If Eccles and Torp are both out we will go to this;
Rushworth
Thomas Wolf Kitching
MVE Allen Grimes Dasilva
Sakamoto Wright BTA

With Rudoni and potentially Eccles and Torp out it’s the only logical way we can go really
Who could have predicted us having to reshuffle things a fair bit with injuries to players in a position we dont have depth!

3-4-3

Rushworth
Thomas Wolfenden Kitching
MVE Allen Grimes JDS
Saka Wright. BTA

5-4-1 if defending for a period of time

It wasn’t called the Championship then either, was it?

No qualms with switching to a different formation for this game, which on paper should be one of the easiest league games of the year. I know Lampard values consistency and a settled team, but do whatever you need to do to get us through to the international break without any more problems.

Changing formartion and with players more than capable of playing in those positions. Footballing miracle to be second with this apparent zero depth we have.

You know I agree with you on this. But I will say to have all three out at the same time is very unlucky

To be fair Torp has history of niggly injuries, Eccles is just coming back from a fairly big one. It was naive for people to think they wouldnt be out for a portion of the season.

Tbh it still looks a strong team in that formation, good enough to see off Wednesday anyway.
I think my one qualm is Allen, he's not awful don't get wrong and i do kind of respect him for sticking about and always putting in a shift, but I just kind of hoped we'd be past starting Allen at this point. I do expect to see another CM in the Jan window.

Was it ever called League One? 😉

Yeah I think so. Wasn't it straight after the EPL was launched, what is now Champ, L1 and L2, were called League One, League Two and League Three?

Or Divison 1, 2 and 3?

The Championship defo wasn't called the Championship when the EPL was launched.

Nobody said it was ideal, but I can't see BTA faring much better (unless we completely change the role) & Andrews doesn't seem trusted

I've even said I'd move to 5-2-3 if both Torp/Eccles are out but if Lampard wants to stick to the system then I'd argue he's the best option of a bad bunch

Also, a player not performing in a role 2 seasons ago under Robins isn't a solid argument. JDS couldn't play LB under Robins but look at him now
Neither was I. I'm basing my opinion on watching Sakamoto play in a central role before and he was useless. Which is the only fact we've both stated in our posts. The rest of it is complete guesswork.

What’s the longest we’ve ever been top of the Championship?

Have we ever been top of the championship?
We hit the top spot under Ronald Nillson briefly, then it all turned to rat shit.
Still fuming at Jim Smith's role, he was worse than useless for us.

He is one of the best players in the championship, however he played Saturday and Tuesday, so at his age hes got to be feeling the pace a bit now, and a heavy pitch won't do him any favours.
Nor will Jamie Allen. He he he.

Are we supporting the Wednesday “Not a pound in the ground” spending boycott?
As much as we may dislike the Wednesday fan base there is a bigger picture.

Lots of people had the same view last season and then he came along and put in a few quality performances.
Keeping Alllen for this season is brilliant..... he knows he won't play much of a role and will be used sparingly, role model at the club similar to Bidwell and there to support Grimes/Kitchen as leaders.
Completely agree it's a position we need to recruit in during January.

Chose to do overtime tomorrow morning, meaning I’d obviously not get to the game. The company we were doing the job for has now pulled out. Shitehawks. Suppose it’s £35 better in my pocket, but they are gits.

I’d have 100% bought food and drink in the ground as well.
