Fitness test for torp / Eccles today.
Which suggest at worst, both should be back for Blackburn.

think Eccles will play / torp no
As long as one of them makes it we will be ok.
Grimes will be fit so Allen can step in, or even BTA could play as a 10 and EMC could come back in on the left wing.

Plenty of options.

If EMC can play 70 minutes then Saka in the 10 isn't the worst shout. He presses well and can go wide in possession like Rudoni does so we're still playing to his strengths

Bannan? He's always up for playing us and I think at his age he possibly targets certain games where he wants to be in the team. Without him we will win, but if he in on the pitch I think it will be a draw. Biggest test thus far for us because people expect us to run riot over them.

Any other time Sakamoto has played in the 10 role, he's been shit.

I’d much rather BTA there than Saka or EMC who both want a fullback on the sideline. He played the deeper of the two forwards and as Lampard says can fill in at the ten. Gives you good press with Haji as well.

BTA needs to stay where he is. Wouldn't work as a 10 .
The idea that a professional striker who can play as a CF AND has already played as a LW and RW this season, couldnt possibly play as a 10, is the most rediculous thing ive heard in ages.

You say he should stay where he is, well where is he exactly??? Left wing? Right wing? Or up front?

If he stays on the left wing, do we leave a now fit EMC on the bench when his fresh legs would be desperately needed in our third game in 8 days?

I think one of Torp or Eccles will play and this will be a moot point but I agree. BTA can play any of the front four roles and I’d rather him there a the two best crossers out wide than visa versa.

I've got my opinion you've got yours. If that's the most ridiculous thing you've heard then you are leading a very sheltered life.

BTA would be awful as a CAM. He hasn't got the touch, the spatial awareness or the weight of pass / pass accuracy to be even remotely adequate in that position.

His niche is making runs to receive passes and applying pressure to the oppositions defensive line, not in dictating play

I think we'd change formation before putting BTA, EMC or Sakamoto in that position personally. Hopefully it doesn't come to that and the injuries it looked like we picked up weren't anything to worry about.

Mate, you frequently post far more “rediculous” things in the off topic forum 🤣

Could BTA, EMC or Tats play as a 10? Yeah probably.

Not convinced it would be the best use of our better attacking outlets and as you say, I think we’d sooner change shape to accommodate players playing in their best positions.

Under Robins yes. The role was different, he was asked to stay central which didn't work

Look at Rudoni's heatmap. The 10 role under Lampard is much more about floating out wide and creating overloads. You need close control in a packed middle, good link-up play and good delivery - BTA has his strengths but he doesn't suit this

Hopefully Torp is fit and all of this is futile

Great news that. Was hoping the suspected injuries weren't serious.
Still, if both are out tomorrow, it will need to be Grimes, Allen and Andrews in the middle, and surely a switch to 5-3-2.

So as a 10 we're now just assuming Sakamoto can float out wide, create overloads, have close control in a packed middle, good link-up play and good delivery.

Whenever he's tried to do any of that before, he was wank. Got bullied off the ball pretty much every time.

The problem is bodies in central midfield & all of our wingers are available so I don't see why we'd switch to 5-3-2

It wil be the usual with Andrews/Saka/BTA in the 10 or the 5-2-3 (5-4-1) was saw against Millwall

Nobody said it was ideal, but I can't see BTA faring much better (unless we completely change the role) & Andrews doesn't seem trusted

I've even said I'd move to 5-2-3 if both Torp/Eccles are out but if Lampard wants to stick to the system then I'd argue he's the best option of a bad bunch

Also, a player not performing in a role 2 seasons ago under Robins isn't a solid argument. JDS couldn't play LB under Robins but look at him now
