Am i right in saying all our signings upto date are left footers ? Is Mowbray a closet Marxist ?

Lameiras signing will take the pressure off Maddison as they will be fighting for the same spot i'd have thought. We desperately need 3 more attacking players; one goalscorer, one pacey, one powerhouse.

RL signing might mean the end for Swanson (who also plays no. 10/left wing)?

rTo be honest i don't think Swanson was ever a serious signing, he is on contract so will train here until he gets a club in Scotland. Could he be used as a make weight ?

I don't think the formation TM has been using suits Swanson. Some of it might come down to the players we have at present rather than what TM wants.

But it wouldn't suprise me if Swanson went to St Johnstone. TM might want to get a couple more in first.

Have noticed he seems to get on well with the younger players too. He doesn't look like a random bloke thrown in to see what they can do.

If we sign RL i'll be really excited for this season.

That's a lie, im already really excited. But that's how I fell whenever there's a whisper of a new signing lol

I know you can never tell from YouTube videos and I don't pretend to know much about him but he does look like a real playmaker. Would be sad to see Swanson shafted for him though. Think he deserves his chance

On what basis is Swanson being shafted ? He hardly kicked a ball for us last season and spent most of the back end of the season in Scotland, we were desperate for players April and May yet TM left him in situ, tells us something doesn't it?

We are not a charity !

May have been the case that there wasn't a recall clause in his contract?

We weren't allowed to recall him.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ruben Lameiras offered contract by Coventry City

===

Coventry City have offered triallist Ruben Lameiras a contract and hope the Portuguese forward will sign in the next few days.

Sky Blues boss Tony Mowbray has been impressed by the 20-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur Academy player during a two-week trial at the club and is hoping to add him to his squad.

“We’ve made an offer to Ruben,” said Mowbray, whose mind was made up after his lively second half contribution against Portsmouth on Tuesday night.

“Let’s wait and see but I would hope in the next day or two that we would conclude that one way or the other.

Very astute move this from TM, it could go either way but he's not costing a lot so ultimately it won't matter.

A basis of:

Burge

Phillips
Ricketts
Reda
Stokes

Vincelot
Fleck

JOB
Maddison
Lameiras

Tudgay

is by no means finished but is good to work from. Three to four forward players with pace still needed if we are to challenge. Add Pennington to them and we will be there.

Get a couple of decent goalscorers in and that looks pretty nifty on paper.

Apart from a decent goalscorer or two and an experienced keeper as number 1 and/or cover for burge it looks good. Certainly better than last year

I like the idea of that formation. Fits some of our players better. We have Maddison and G. Thomas who both prefer to be just behind the striker. Good way to accommodate that type of player. We still need another striker with a few more goals in him (I like Tudgay but he can't play every me, will be better off the bench. Would take a more experienced keeper too and maybe another full back.

Ideally you'd have Lameiras and Tuddy on the bench and a new winger and striker in - with two additional forward players coming in on loan perhaps. We could arguably improve on both fullbacks and the keeper - we may do with Pennington, if Ricketts moves to fullback - but it looks like TM is done defensively.

Not enough to goals or pace for me, I don't particularly like the formation either, in this league I prefer 2 strikers.

My team would be:

Burge / or loan

Ricketts / Pennington / or Willis / Reda / Stokes
Thomas. Fleck

Maddison / Vincelot / Lameiras or Swanson

Tudgay / or Samuel

I know a few are pending, but we are going in the right direction. A few more signings ant the formation might change?

Loans to come in yet !!!

TM said it looks unlikely that Samuel is coming as he's impressed Steve Clarke

He also said that if they manage to sign two more strikers then he'll be let out on loan.

But still don't see it especially as Brentford have signed Hoffman ahead of them.

Great news! Can't wait to see him play. Here's hoping he plays a huge part this year and turns out to be our little magician!

Defence and middle of the park sorted! Winger 2 strikers and a keeper and we are good to go!

That's what I had been thinking, pay them a good loan fee and then as his contract runs down, sort a deal with him.

Absolutely right. Will have a bottle to celebrate later. Hope another signing shortly...a centre forward...and then it might be champagne. Well perhaps not
