I don't care who owns who, we need to play our best team.

Robins doesn't seem like the sentimental type to me who'd play Mason just because he's 'one of us', and if that was the case there would be no point having him back. If Robins sees him as better then Mason, as he clearly does, then he needs to continue to play him, its whats best for the team. We aren't out to be all warm & fuzzy and hand some development opportunities out, we're here to win games. We can worry about all that stuff when we're a bit further up the leagues.

You pick your strongest 11, not your favourite 11.

I would normally agree with you, but not this time.
As someone said earlier, Mason is not far off and is ours to develop for next season. If he goes and comes back on loan then for me he plays if MR thinks due to the opposition we need him, if it's 50/50 then Mason plays as he needs games and we need him next season whilst Macllum is with Norwich etc....

Following on from the Hogan/Bright loans post Saturday. Here is a CET head fuck...

Should Sam leave, then be loaned back... would he be eligible on Tuesday?

He was registered before Saturday... then (maybe) registered to Norwich tomorrow, then (maybe) registered to Coventry.

Couldn't give a toss either way, but that is their click-bait wet dream!

Draft one in but I think McCallum will be here on loan, although I’ll make a point brown would suit the left wing back position how’s he been doing out on loan anyone know ?

I look at this in another way, maybe in the longer run this could be a good thing, if we do go up, maybe younger more talented young players will consider us as a good option to want to play for, as they may see us as a good club for their development?
Maybe as well, MR may have someone in mind to help us push on? As we know he is very good at keeping his transfer targets very hush hush, and may need this to help him get his target, didnt he say a while ago, he had someone in mind who he wanted?

This logic makes no sense. Do you think we should drop on loan Walsh for permanent Allen ?
Ha ha. No. That’s not the same thing and you know it. Walsh is here for the season, has cemented his place in the team by being better than anyone else in his position, and is literally one of the players that has to be played if available. McCallum has a more than adequate back up in Mason, some even feel he’s the better player. Who would replace Walsh (that we also ‘own’ and is of a similar ability)?

The whole point I’m making is that when you look at the bigger picture, the club will still exist next season (hopefully!) and any manager worth his salt will be looking at that as well as the next few months. As I’ve repeatedly said there really isn’t that much between them, and we will need Mason when / if McCallum goes.

I assume the ‘logic’ that others are using is that McCallum is streets ahead of Mason and playing Mason will severely weaken our team. I don’t agree with that, and feel that giving our own player more game time is more important than the slight advantage we might gain by playing a (loaned back) player.

Was it worth losing Grimmer for whatever intangible benefits we gained from playing Sterling in every single game last season? I’m not convinced that Sterling offered that much more than Grimmer would have (ok, he’s a better player, but for last season grimmer would have done a job), and I can see the same scenario playing out again here.

I’m just thinking ahead slightly and feel that Mason is a perfectly adequate solution to the left defence / wing back position.

But hey, it’s all about opinions and the only one that really matters is Mark Robins’s. I’ll let him make the call of who should play. All things being equal it would be McCallum, but in the circumstances we are talking about it would be Mason. For me.

Yeah, and simply repeating the same old without any extra doesn’t prove your point.

I’m not convinced that McCallum is so much better than Mason that it negates the other points I made.

‘End of’ is a bit like sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting.

I don't know all the details but I think it's fairly certain that Mccullum is going to Norwich and that the club has made sure we drove a hard bargain
Again, not sure of the details but if Sam is staying here on loan I'd see this as positive evidence that we've made the best of a difficult situation
Some have said that the loan back of Maddison didn't work at as well as hoped
But Dele Alli's loan back after his sale to Spurs worked brilliantly as MK got the money while Alli stayed to help them get promoted to the Championship before he left

Haven't heard anything but Robins has said he's happy with his squad so if he's still got Sam till the end of the season he may still be thinking along the same lines

Hardly m8. I said end of, for me.

If you think Mark Robins won’t pick his chosen best 11 in favour of developing another player when winning games is vital to our season, you’re beyond help.

Eh? Saying that when people say ‘end of’ is the same as not listening to an opposing argument makes it a ‘Megaflounce’. Lol, now I’ve seen some actual flounces over the years, not sure this qualifies.

My question is the squad good enough for automatic promotion ? I don’t fancy risking the play offs it’s a lottery I’m hoping We go out and find something tomorrow who can turn those 0-0 at fleetwood etc into wins

Could be anything long term but played a full season in men's non-league at 16

wtf are you on about?

Robins has picked McCallum over Mason consistently and he obviously has no problems playing loanees in front of developing players. They aren’t opinions, they are facts... whether you agree with them or not.

Very sorry to hear that Sam Mcallum looks like he will be leaving CCFC. We have a decent left back in Mason so call on so in one way we are fortunate.
I can't help but feel we are not getting maximum value for our players and if we go up the value of our squad rises as a whole and the star assets with in its value would increase even more significantly.
I am far from a SISU hater but this year they surely need to hold their nerve and not sell.

Yes the prices go up but so does the cost of actually fielding a competitive side so it all evens out

£2m in League One terms is probably more than £5m in Championship terms. £2m would go a long way in League One but £5m wouldn’t in the Championship, nearly every club have that much money to spend

Please outline these different criteria for selecting a team, aside from selecting based on which selection is most able to win the game. Best haircut perhaps? How about fanciest toiletries bag. Maybe whoever wins the card school on the bus gets the coveted number 3 shirt.

I don’t know if I’m supposed to be surprised or what seeing as it was obvious 12 hours ago

so what this means is that:

1 we sign nobody and this place lights up with anger & endless debate about what Robins is doing wrong.
2 we sign someone that nobody has heard of and this place lights up with anger & endless debate about where Robins is going wrong, saying he should have splashed some cash and got a proven player.
3 we sign someone everybody has heard of and this place lights up with anger and endless debate about where Robins is going wrong, saying he should have gone for a premier league loanee

I’m going with 1
