Think a few of our players thought it was out. On the unseen video you can see them looking over their shoulders as they run to congratulate Wright, to see if the ref was gonna rule it out.

This is really good
French football not as spoilt or as much money
More respect not sure it would be as nice in the premier league but maybe

You can see why they have VAR, cause they're bloody awful without it
The standard of refereeing in general does seem to have gone down (certainly at this level) the only saving grace today was that he was just as bad for them as he was for us, which isn’t usually the case.

The only thing that’s changed is expectations
His early booking was a mistake and then he was inconsistent in his decision making
He only gives what he sees
I don’t know what we expect really of an official
I’m just as bad don’t worry

objectively
His positioning was pretty good
His fitness was pretty good
He generally got in and out of play correct with his assistants
His communication was good with assistants

Objectively bad
Kitchings yellow card
Inconsistent on obstruction
Added time way over
Pearson should have been cautioned once
Sheaf not a booking

First game at this level I think he’d objectively be quite pleased

Kitching shouldn’t have been booked and neither should have their player early on. Pearson should have received one (if not two yellow cards). The booking for sheaf was soft but ref might have thought he used a high arm in tussling for ball. And the sitting on ball a couple of times by them and no foul against was baffling.
but was he worse than the wolves ref who with benefit of var ‘support’ didn’t even give a yellow for the high boot on O’Hare? Who was also conned by the wolves keeper and bench etc.

That’s a pretty fair assessment tbh.

If you look at it like that he was getting more wrong than right, hopefully first day nerves and he will get better as we could do with a few decent refs.

It’s the rule changes that leaves more room for interpretation and therefore, inconsistencies in applying the rules.

The Lino on our side was just as bad. Called everything Huddersfield’s way.

Cannot believe the ref didn’t give a yellow for the flying elbow that poleaxed Bobby Thomas!

I don’t think there was a VAR check for the O’Hare incident?
