With Ricketts experience and the excellent form of Martin, I think we'll be better covered in defence this season than we were last campaign when Reda was out for long periods. I trust that Mowbray would bring in the right loan player if need be. I think a serious injury to Fleck or Vincelot would be much more damaging at the moment.

I think if Willis was too far away it'd be a problem as I don't think he wants Philips there long term. But if he's back in training now should only be a couple of games before he's back.

Given Reda's injury record I'd be amazed if he had accepted a deal which effectively didn't cover him in the event of an injury. It does sound ominous though.

There is cover & there is cover & there is insurance & there is risk. Hope we haven't gambled too much!

What is the lad Harries like is he near to being ready for the first team?

Tony must think so as he was on the bench last night. I have never seen him play myself though.

Err, who else could we have put on the bench?

It pretty much had to be Harries didn't it? We don't have any further cover for the centre back role, so it is probably more likely that it was a case of needs must, I would have thought.

Harries is a top prospect. Excellent on the ball, not ready physically yet though to play CB in league one. Wouldn't mind seeing him at left back though, his left foot is a wand.

Rather than Pennington wouldn't it be better to bring a right back in and keep Ricketts at centre half? Willis could then come back as cover.

I'd prefer Ricketts move back to right back tbh and bring in a dominating centre half (someone with more physicality than Pennington)

Our defence has been excellent since he moved there for the Burton match.

Announcement tomorrow, you don't reckon we are going to try and pay off his contract as he is out for the season...

More likely to be operation needed or operation delayed, hobble on.

No you're not. Cov fans get strangely attached to slightly better than average loanees. I thought he was good at times but also error prone.

I think you're generous with your assessment of him. He was awful at full back but slightly better at centre half. At right back he was the oppositions best defender as all of our attacks stopped on the right side when he got the ball. Happier with Phillips at RB and Ricketts in the middle myself.

If he's getting a scan and seeing a specialist it can take a few days before they know the extent of the damage.

You're quite right, I was just going off the back of the fact I thought I'd read that Mowbray would be giving an update on him today. I may have misread that though.

Well I thought Pennington was awful at right back, but excellent at centre half. I would be very happy to have him back as central defensive cover.

Yeah he was awful at right back. I thought he had some good games at centre back but did make errors. I would worry about him and Martin as a centre back pairing.

Don't get me wrong I thought he was okay, but I wouldn't be clamouring for him to come back in on loan. If he did fine, if he doesn't I wouldn't bat an eyelid or go chasing him.

Plus I'd want somebody with a bit of expierince to replace Johnson, someone like Anthony Gerrard. Not a young kid learning the game.

Is Gerrard still without a club?

Always thought he was a top half champ player, has he had a lot of injuries?

Marcus Hall springs to mind. Never saw what the fuss was there. He was decidedly ordinary.

Find me where I've said Johnson is a bad player? He's not, he's a good league one defender he just hyped to shit on here for no other reason other than his fan interaction, which I find sad as fuck.

i judge him on the pitch, never met the guy or interacted with him on social media

have another try

also you like to throw out reasons why other people like players, you even tell them to get their head examined. But you said burge would be 100% back in because hes better than RCC. So maybe you should a)get your own head examined or b)stop acting like you know more than others about the game.

Reda obviously has his faults, but I think what we all like about him is his command and strength, that he is a goal threat for us and just his sheer presence. Fact is, we have achieved better results when he has been in the team.

He's playing League One so we all know he is not the complete footballer we would like him to be. If he was he wouldn't be here.

Every player at this level has their faults. Even the likes of Armstrong, Kent, Murphy, etc. That's why they're playing in L1. Reda Johnson with no faults would be a Premiership defender, just like Kent with an end product or Joe Cole fully fit. Like Mowbray said you can have speed, strength and technique, no more than two at once in this league.

Exactly! And that's why Reda is a key player for us. For all his faults, the attributes he brings are on the whole, positive.

Tony mowbray called him a man mountain if he's happy with him then that's good enough with me

Why no announcement as promised? HopeFully that means they spoke with Reda first and all is settled and no announcement needed. Or not

He's gone off on a 2 week jolly and nobody can get in touch with him - I bet he's shacked up with Huckerby on a beach (just out of shot on the Huckerby thread!);)
