It’s so frustrating so often EMC concedes fouls just for standing his ground and being strong yet CB’s can just employ wrestling moves and get away with it.

It's the default position that refs adopt when the defender falls to the floor that annoys me. EMC did nothing last night in that challenge, the defender falls, and he was free in a very dangerous position. Looked even worse when I looked back at the replay..

Not long after Sakamoto was penalised for being fouled in the opposite corner.

Hope once the post mortem of an away match we dominated bar 10 mins, against a team (when 11 and 10 players) thats fourth in a league, when half our team doesn’t look quite right, on a pitch that was dreadful, at a ground we never win at is done, that 1-1 isn’t seen as such a terrible result

Frustrating yes but as I keep saying that’s football. Some games just won’t go our way over the season.

Fair play to all those that travelled on a Tuesday. Did the club proud

Fair post. I'm not sure why I post in the immediate aftermath of a frustrating result as you do lose a bit of perspective in the moment. It's annoying that we didn't put them away but it wasn't a bad performance by any means.

I doubt the rumour re Bamford is remotely accurate

Wright need to score goals if he wants to be in the USA team to play so I figure he will be keen to score ( he did score but Mason Clark was a tad offside ) he also got in positions to score - however closer to the end of the season he will back off as he won’t want to get injured - same with BTA - for us a good World Cup for both will catapult their value !

Wright needs to be worrying about putting chances away than Bamford or anyone else coming in.

He will regret it when he doesn't get selected for his home World Cup.

Simms should’ve started instead of Wright imho. I think some of those chances Wright missed may have been converted by Simms just because he’s in better form now. At times. Wright’s attitude/application is a little questionable.

I fear we’re too stretched and defensively quite fragile at the moment. Hope we don’t blow it. It would be quite the collapse. Jan windows are notoriously difficult and I feel we need to recall the likes of Rapha and Obikwu just to beef up our squad depth.

if we are recalling Rapha and Obikwu we have given up on Autos - we need squad depth, but with better than that

Problem is just a lack of bodies at the moment.

If we had BTA fit then we could have done that. But at the moment Simms has been playing a lot of minutes and needed a rest, Wright has just come back from injury and probably not ready for 90 mins.

Simms wouldn't have got on the end of the ones played in behind, only the header I'd fancy him to score really

Presumably we'll sign a winger in January so won't need Raphael back now, but I do think he should have been kept from the summer until January.

He's a better bench option than having two left backs, one of which never plays.

I know they’re very average players, but Jan windows are tough and DK isn’t one that likes to loan players or spend a king’s ransom. We need to bolster our ranks.

I really hope, that to arrest the decline in momentum, we can beat Bristol - by no means a given - and get a point at Southampton.

Middlesbrough have a run of generally easier games coming up and I expect them to be ahead of us in a few weeks time. It is important to keep a good gap to third.

The reaction to Haji's performance really baffles me.

I thought he looked really dangerous running in behind.

First chance, his touch on his left thigh wasn't great, but he sitll got a shot off and hit the target
Second chance, he's done everything right. Great first touch, got across his man, and forced a good save.
The header, good movement to get there, but having got there he should score. He did get a push in the back though.
He then got in behind and got their man sent off, and was close to winning a penalty

Second half, they dropped deeper and nullified him a bit, but he scored a disallowed goal, forced a decent save where he got to the front post and flicked at a cross from EMC.

I've watched it back and i think Dasilva has to do more to engage the player on the right when its clear he's got the legs on Rudi and i've no idea what Wright is doing back there, so it is avoidable but i still think 'but the defence' is so so simplistic. We play high risk, high reward. Our centre backs are regularly in the attacking third from open play never mind set plays and our full backs also fly forward. We are obviously going to concede goals playing that way but we are top of the league so it's kind of working isn't it?

I don't think Middlesbrough are all that though, so it's by no means a foregone conclusion that they win them all. They won narrowly at a freefalling Charlton 0.72xG. Even in xG terms their win at Hull was flattering, 1.29xG.

The biggest threats to us remain the teams we thought would be at the start of the season, the parachute clubs with the probable exception of Leicester.

Exactly it comes in waves. We have the expectation now we are gonna fail to win a lot, and Boro are gonna win all their games, when in reality it will be somewhere in the middle.

Shmmeee has it in for the centre backs for some reason so this is not surprising. I think they both do a good job, they are not flawless but i think they do pretty much what it asked of them and also contribute to our attacking play in a big way. Thomas in particular was superb yesterday and I don't find some of the rumours about interest in him surprising at all.
Not a huge fan of individual blame as most conceded goals happen for a number of reasons but i do think the biggest thing was Dasilva, he needed to close down that space much much quicker, it was pretty half arsed.

It was a frustrating result but I didn't think our performance was anywhere near as bad as some are making out.

Credit to Preston I thought they defended their box very well and their GK was solid.

The goal conceded was horrendously sloppy though. I'd imagine Lampard was livid at that and rightly so.

The drop of intensity which led to the AAATB that led to the throw in is equally infuriating, we literally brought the whole thing upon ourselves.

Yes i think everyone just thinks Boro, Ipswich, Southampton will keep winning at record breaking rates now but it's unlikely to play out that way. We've given ourselves a good little gap to allow for a couple iffy results.

The team were definitely trying to drop balls in centrally for him to race the centre backs too. One of them of course resulted in the sending off, I thought then we've won this but we disappointed in the 2nd half, tried hard, put loads of crosses in but couldn't dominate.

Couldn't be arsed to make a post when we got back last night, but talk about one that got away, as many others have posted we'll never have a better chance to break the curse.

Just my thoughts on the 2nd half in particular, we pretty much dominated possession from the start until we scored, they were pinned in and had virtually no opportunity to get near our goal. Then once we'd scored we just totally stopped and for some reason reverted to keep ball across the back line - yes yes preserve what we have, but there was no need to suddenly drop back.

The throw in which led to their goal all came about thanks to pillocking around at the back and giving it back to Rushworth who was harried and booted it into touch. Even with a man extra we sat deeper and deeper, asking for trouble. They had a corner at one point and we had all 10 players back, we were the team with the extra man FFS.

Saturday a must win now for me to stay top by Christmas, with Southampton away afterwards - Boro's run of fixtures looks fairly kind to them over the next few weeks.

We thought the game was won and we'd just stroll about and get a second imo. Bit us on the arse. A valuable lesson hopefully.
