My nephew works at Pompey on match day in charge of the big screens there. He's a Argyle fan but Ive told him to blow a fuse on the electrics to take out the floodlights if City are losing with 20 mins to go... all eventualities covered 🤣

Baffling to see multiple negative comments about EMC across various threads on here, including criticisms of workrate and awareness. Such a fine player, and I'm always very happy to see him on the team sheet.
Also he has the tendency to do the unexpected.

It's one of those things, he can be a bit untidy which colours people's view of him. However he gets on the ball in good positions continually, even if the final ball isn't always there. I'd like to see him score more goals.

I wonder what's happened to Bidwell? Dasilva has improved but he's been one of our lowest ranked players every match.
I think the marks JDS gets demonstrates bias. He has played exceptionally well this season. He got skinned a couple of times at Leicester but they did not score. He was below average first half against Blackburn but was not alone. Can't think of another game where he has been poor in a defence with the second best record regarding goals conceded.
See how many offsides we force with the back four working as a unit.
Under Lampard, you keep your place if you perform.
Bidders has struggled since his injury. At his best, he is a class full back, but currently JDS is better..

I wonder what the Pompey are thinking , or if they are reading the criticism of our own players on here ?
I know they beat M/borough , but we are a different kettle of fish ……..

League leaders .
Top scorers by a mile .
How many City players in the top six scorers .
Unbeaten after 10 games .
Our most valuable player out injured , but we haven’t slowed down .

Let’s enjoy another fabulous away win , with our great team , that can only get better !

Yup you don’t get into Chelsea’s academy without some good skill
Or every England team U16 to U21 and the U23 squad. One of a few players to win three FA Youth Cups and the UEFA Youth League. Was voted fans player of the year on loan at Charlton. Played a lot of games in the Championship.
My minor beef with him is his reluctance to shoot and he can sometimes be lax with his crosses. However, they almost always beat the first man.
Clearly he does not have MVE's speed of recovery and height is always an issue against a brilliant header of the ball. That said, This has not proved to be an issue this season to date.

Even when everything is going brilliantly, someone has to be critical based on events that have not happened this season.
Gawd knows what will happen if we lose a match.

Thought he's been one of our better players recently and as on Saturday he's been taking on defenders alot more around the outside rather than cutting in

He does well enough but just looks chaotic sometimes - he hasn’t got the stamina of the other wide players either

Dasilva would be ranked a lot higher if he didn't have EMC in front of him, honestly ive never seen a player lose his man and let him run off him as often as EMC.
He needs to learn to do the defensive work as well as the attacking part.

Against Leicester Dasilva had BTA in front of him and he didn't do the defensive stuff either which left JDS exposed against one of the best wingers in the league.

Very few people spot this and they just think JDS is having a poor game.

Just think he’s one who’s not on top form atm. His tracking back compared to Saka and BTA is noticeably worse. Maybe it’s because those two have exceptional work rates but still. He’s being greedy when he should be passing too much, feels like he’s trying a bit too hard similar to when he first came. I think he’s got a lot more than he’s showing.

My instant summary of EMC

Just because we are criticizing does not mean we think he is no good

1. Colossal potential. two good crosses, two goals shows that. A match winner
2. But just not maxing out on that potential. Only two crosses. The same is true of Sakamoto - not enough crosses
3. The defensive cover / day dreaming bit he'll learn. It's just a bit of a nuisance right now
4. Defenders don't give him the space they did when he was new and unheard of
5. There is an ongoing fitness question

Agree that probably never been 100% fit since he came, A series of niggling injuries.

Well Rafa is on loan, KKH and Brau have proved they can play there, BTA has been deployed on both wings and before this season Haji has played largely on the left so we have options, but apart from that they're our only 2 wingers.

They’re our only wingers!

I will be on a field trip with my class to the local history museum tomorrow so will miss watching this one smh. However, I do have faith that we will get a result in this one, but just think it will be a draw. I know some may see that as the end of the world, but personally I would not lose my mind if that is what it is.

Regardless, safe travels there and back to those going!

1/6 to finish top 6, 4/9 to be promoted and clear favourites at 13/8 to win the league. The bookies have faith!
The bookies are covering their arses 😁

1/6 for the top 6 is like printing money. But 4/9 for promotion and 13/8 to win the league?

I can't see 6 teams better than us. Most of the time I don't see anyone better than us. But it's a long, hard season. We've coped well with the injuries so far. Goals are still flying in and the defence is solid. But what worries me is the fitness of the players with the intensity we play with.

The international breaks have been good for us. We get another next month. But it's a hard slog through winter. Bring in the right additions in January and everything should be OK. But 4/9 for promotion at this stage?
