Too much talk of taking a draw on here for my liking. This lot need slaying for the embarrassing score line last season at the same venue!

JDS is weak; clearly not what we need if we are talking automatics. Along with midfield cover left back is the position most in need of attention. No matter how much JDS improves, it is from a low base and we need better.

That said, one of the neatest moments on Saturday was JDS, in a tight spot, hit a sweet little chip to Grimes over the legs of a Blackburn player to get out of jail. It was the action of a player full of confidence. He didn't just boot it up field (as I might have)
Give JDS a break..he's been excellent this whole year. He's not gonna be 8/10 every week.

The issue is EMC in front of him. He has alot of ground to cover...doesn't get the help like say tats helps Milan on RHS.

We have three left backs, we aren't signing another any time soon.

Dasilva is by far the pick of the bunch (at the moment), and has been good this season.

Anybody who thinks JDS is a good long term solution, no matter how much he has improved, needs to give their heads a wobble.

Comments on EMC are noted - he sometimes puts his brain into neutral gear when things are not in his immediate area, like not making himself available for a quick throw.

He has played every game of the season for the team top of the league and is part of the defence that has kept 5 clean sheets in a row.

If we were to be promoted nobody is expecting him to be first choice in the Premier league but he's been good this season and deserves his place in the team.

Like everyone else, feeling nervy for tomorrow's game. Felt much the same for the Millwall match, but at least we had a good recent record at The Den. I think the nerves are down to being a long time Cov fan. These midweek away games at intimidating grounds in the past we'd always lose, even under Robins. This team have a level of fight I've never seen in a Cov team,. We'd have lost that Blackburn game in past seasons.

It will be tough game for sure, but we should be returning home with another three points. Sheff Wednesday won 2-0 at Fratton Park earlier in the season so going for a 3-1 win.

Whilst I appreciate BTA's workmanship, he can't dribble. EMC leaves multiple defenders for dead numerous times a game
Once Rudoni is back I think BTA would be worth a run on the left side, he offers far more of a goal threat and assists than EMC.

And wouldn't lose his man every 5 minutes when defending.
EMC is a much bigger threat as a LW. BTA has carved out a good role as a 2nd striker because he gets the ball centrally to fire off good shots. It's no surprise that nearly all of BTA's goals for us have come when playing 2 strikers.

At LW and even RW, BTA looks quite awkward imo.

Looks like Eccles will be back for this which is good. Much better than Allen especially against a physical side like Portsmouth. Think we need an extra midfielder for this match as our strikers were a little isolated in the first half vs Blackburn who dominated the middle of the park.

Don't forget they beat Boro. Will be a very tough match.
