3-2. Exciting game and back to the free flowing football.

Armstrong, Cole and Ricketts.

9°, rainy and windy. Attendance 16,812.

TM will be wearing his new tie and the bloke sitting next to me will have 3 kids, all playing on their DS's and be kicking the backs of the chairs in front of them.

We'll go one nil down and the Vale fans will be singing 'Jingle bells, 'Jingle bells ... oh what fun is to see the Vale win away, hey!'

That will last 2 mins though as City will quickly bag and brace and then City will be in control.

Maddison will come on for 15 mins and showboat his way out of the club and Fortune will come on and hit the post. They'll whisk him swiftly down to A&E, but they will say it's just concussion and unfortunately he will be fit again for Monday.

Sorry I can't be any more specific

I thought Kent did pretty well the other day and I'm one of his biggest critics. That said I also thought Lameiras did well against Shef U.

Difference between the two, Lameiras has an end product, Kent doesn't (besides that one goal he bagged a while back).

Lameiras creates openings for others, Kent seems to want to do it all himself and his final ball/shot is usually woeful/underhit/lacking power.

2-1 win to us gonna be tough to break down at the start but i feel once we get that goal we should dominate and ive a feeling maddison will run rings around them if he plays or comes on as a sub

Quiet 0-0 so I can nurse my hangover without too much excitement....

OK 1-0 win would be ok as long as it is a quiet goal.

I'd play Kent ahead of Lameiras (and I like Lameiras). Kent is hugely talented and massively under appreciated by most city fans. It would be a travesty if we were not to play someone with so much ability on the basis that he is young, raw and a bit naive. Looked our most threatening player on Saturday.

Word coming off the training ground from other players is that he is the most gifted player they have ever seen. He will go to the very top.

My opinion of course and TM might leave him out as he has done on other occasions and if RL plays fine, no real issue with that.

Lameiras in for Kent maybe?

Maddison in for Cole, Lamieres for Kent, keep Kent and Murphy in the bench for the last half hour.

Usually agree with much of what you say ferret, but I would say Kent was no threat at all, because once again there was no end product to all the good work he did.

He dribbles past people, out foxes them, gets near the box and then either hits a powder puff shot, hopelessly miscues or falls over. I don't think he's been threatening at all cos you know there's nothing at the end of it.

Unfortunately we are in the results business, especially if we want a chance at promotion. He may be the most gifted player ever but he just doesn't create enough chances given the amount of ball he has in the final third. I'd still keep him on loan, but he shouldn't always be first choice, he simply doesn't deliver enough warrant that.

I would go-

RCC

Phillips Martin Ricketts Stokes

RV. Fleck(Bigi if not fit)

JOB. Lameires. Murphy

AA

just keep interchanging the positions of the 3 behind AA.

Look at getting 30 mins from Maddison.

Also promote Tudgay ahead of MAF in the striker pecking order if one is needed off the bench.

Tbh think I would struggle to fit Cole & MAF on my bench if fleck plays.
Unless you use one of RV or prob bigi to cover RB and drop Kelly Evans from the squad.

Burge
Kelly Evans
Haynes
Bigi
Kent
Maddison
Tudgay

You can't play Bigi if he's not fit. That would be madness.

I think that's been the case on occasions, but there have been games when he has looked very threatening - his performance against Chesterfield was outstanding (think he had a perfectly good goal disallowed that game too).

I think there is a case for saying that in games when teams park the bus Lameiras is the better option in terms of unlocking defences (although I think Vale will be a lot more adventurous than Oldham were).

I certainly wouldn't leave both Kent and Murphy out as some have suggested. We missed Murphy's pace the other day, and if you take Kent out too we might be forced to play a bit too narrow.

Well the last 4 games apparently are nothing to worry about and we are going up so a 3-0 walk in the park I imagine. Or whatever Astute has had a bet on

Just feel he was played out of position surely you bring him on when 1 up you play him through the middle to hold it up, be a nuisance try and kill a bit of time, didn't get putting him out right plus I think we should be trying to kill teams off and Tudgay appears to be more of a goalscorer than MAF.

Sorry guys if it's already been mentioned elsewhere, but does anyone know if there will be any cash turnstiles open today?

Thanks in advance.
