If you want to indulge in whataboutery how about his gaffe over HS2 when he was out by 20 billion?

You probably didn't hear about it but Hammond got his sums wrong by £20bn

Difference is one has their hands on the purse strings and the other never will.

Would you like Diane to be in charge of the Home Office?

Not really, but she's never going to be.
I don't want Amber Rudd to be either but there you go. Then again she could always blame the alarming rise in crime on budget cuts I suppose.

More like one does have and the other one very well could have if he isn't scrutinised like you would like to happen.

Never said they shouldn't be scutinised. Just the level of scrutiny they get compared to the incumbent government is ridiculous.
You post just proves it, skip major gaffes by the actual chancellor to have a go at the shadow chancellor.

You've just basically applied the logic of 'if you criticise CCC then you must be a SISU lover' to a political argument.

Rather than answer the question we went for the 'you must want Diane Abbott as home secretary then'.

It's very easy to criticise Labour's financial policy when they actually produced some potential numbers. Maybe they don't all stack up, but the Tories don't even bother to produce numbers, just live off the myth that Labour always destroy the countries' finances without serving up any kind of tangible evidence that they are doing a better job.

If you are honest you will agree that the finances of the UK are safer with the Tories.

The reasn I would never vote Tory but always vote Labour is that the Tories look after the rich and Labour look after the poor.

I can't say I agree with you because the economy should be to the benefit of every citizen, not just those that have the wealth.

Some government needs to be brave enough to take a look at the state of our country (and it is in a state) and do something about it. We are descending into something that I fear for my children to be a part of.

I don't agree. National debt as a % of GDP up from 60 to over 80% under the tories and every target they set relating to deficit missed.

Why did you miss out half of the last word you quoted and the rest of the sentence?

Look back at each time the finances have gone bad. Look at each time we have had high unemployment. Then tell me who was in.

I agree.

The best we have had from Labour for a long time was Tony Bliar. He copied the Tories on many things.

We would do best as middle of the road from both Labour and the Tories. But both always undo what the other party has brought in and then bring in their own ideas.

quoted twice by mistake then deleted one quote, must have took those words out as well.
The biggest jump in unemployment I've experienced in my life time was under Thatcher.

This graph show % unemployment, sure the 2 peaks from mid 70s onward are during tory governments. Not the clearest graphic to be honest, (or it could just be my eyes).

I've never known a labour supporter stick up for the tories as much as you do.

The Labour Party were in power in the mid to late 70's

The only Labour party government to have lower unemployment when it left office from when it started was the Ramsay McDonald minority government of 1924

but you claim to be a labour supporter but spend all your time slagging them and try to deflect onto Labour when anyone criticises the tories! Surely when it was highlighted that on one particular occasion Philip Hammond got his figures wrong by 20 billion someone impartial who just wanted the truth would have commented on such an error, you posted a post having a go at Labour!!

Why don't you read back and see that it is false information you are giving out. I have a go at both of them constantly. I don't blindly follow Labour just because I am a lifelong Labour voter. They will never get voted in with the present set up. There are much better Labour MP's than those in charge now.

What false information? You have a reluctance to criticise a very poor tory government which is very strange even if you aren't happy with the shadow cabinet and current policies of the Labour party.

Mad McDonnells plans to borrow £100bn will push it up another 6%!!!!!!!!

At least the deficit is coming down.. if rather too slowly.

Labours borrowing explained;
How on earth will Labour raise £500bn to make Britain more socialist?

I'm sure there's an article to contradict the thinking in the article and I'll be happy to read it if you link one.
The big gamble is the National investment bank. People say it won't work but they're successful in other countries, Germany being a good example. Of course that doesn't mean it will work in the UK and it will be a very expensive gamble if it doesn't.

Paul Mason is a hard line left winger who actually believed Michael Foot would have bought prosperity to Britain.

Of course they did Tiny Tony - the Foot reference was last year. Now he’s clearly gone liberal.

Absolute bullshit. I have had a go at all of them.

One side not being good enough doesn't mean the other side are good enough. I don't trust any of them.

Go on then. Find where I have praised the Tories. Either that or admit you are bullshitting.

I don't trust May. She is a remainer leading the leavers. She is doing what she doesn't want to do.

We will have to respectfully disagree. IMO if you put up the top 6/7 positions most cases Labour counterparts are the better choices.

In your eyes maybe. I say they are mainly a waste of space for both parties.

The Tories are at their weakest for years. A half decent Labour party would have won the last election. But look at who we had leading the party between them. No charisma at all and then you had all the IRA links and the refusal to say anything against it. And we could revisit what has happened since if you like.

You can paper over the cracks as much as you want. The Tories are at their weakest for a very long time. And they still nearly got the majority in the election. Doesn't that tell you something?
