Never agreed with this "no referee, no game" shite.

If you've got a ref who can't see properly, or is biased, you might as well walk off the pitch and give the 3 points away. You're never going to win.

All this "respect the ref" shite needs to stop. Just do your fucking job and you will get respect.

You have to wonder why these things are happening. Clearly referees don’t turn up with a bias against Coventry. They also don’t turn up to have a bad game. I actually thought the guy today started fairly well, was trying to be unobtrusive and let the play flow.
I haven’t seen any of the game back so I can only go on the initial view from the stand. I thought McCallum was fouled and that it was a penalty. I didn’t see any foul in the incident with Bakayoko and O’Hare that lead to the disallowed goal ( the linesman actually flagged for that). I didn’t see the handball incident at all. I suppose all of these are subjective calls and because we are biased see them through Sky blue glasses.
However there were things he did or didn’t do that can’t be disputed.
Early in the game an Accrington player kicked the ball away. He didn’t even speak to him. The same when an Accrington player scooped the ball into the empty seats after running it out.of play. Again no intervention from the ref. At the end of the first half there was a minute of added time. The ball went out for a throw to Stanley, dug out side of the pitch.Initially no Accrington player went to take it. Then two mosied across and performed a little act as to whether it was a throw or a free kick. They must have wasted a good 40 seconds. The throw was eventually taken where upon the ref immediately blew for half time.To my mind he was effectively saying to the Stanley players “waste as much time as you want lads, I’ll let you.”The fact he warned Hyam (I think) for pinching yards at a throw in when they had done it all game with no intervention from him not surprisingly caused outrage.
As I said, refs don’t deliberately give bad decisions but we do seem to have been on the end of a series of bad ones that have cost us dear in terms of points lost.

For what it’s worth I agree, this season it’s been lopsided. Maybe our players aren’t as great at asserting themselves over weak officials. Maybe it’s a run of coincidences. Maybe we are much better at spotting the decisions that go against us instead of for us.

Probably a combination of the above. Today, he got sussed by their players and looked like he completely caved under the pressure.

I thought the ref should have spoken with a few of their players yesterday about the deliberate kicking the ball away etc but it’s what we do, Max did it in the second half when it was a throw in to them by their penalty area.
I thought he got the majority of decisions correct yesterday, Sam went down to easy, something he does often, McFadz took the man then the ball, it was a foul, maybe not a yellow and Max caught him with a leading elbow on a header he could never get too.
We see a standard aligned to the standard of football, we just are not getting our share of luck around some of those decisions at the moment.

None of us should be happy about the performance of our strikers but this run of decisions is incredible

McCallums was no worse than the 'foul' that disallowed O'Hares goal though. If one isn't a foul then the other one isn't.

I don’t disagree with that, I just thought the hysteria yesterday was more than some of the decisions but it built and built

Sorry but yesterdays officials as a unit were utterly clueless. The red card is possibly the only thing he got right. Not booking for time wasting, surrounding the referee, taking throw ins nearly half a pitch further upfield. Then books O'Hare and McFadzean for very innocuous challenges.

Adge... serious question... hopefully an open and honest answer.... why did you want to be a referee, i know you said it was to help your lad out but why? If there is another reason.
I know referees cannot spot everything but some just havent got any idea about the game and wouldnt spot a foul if it was on them... they are invariably behind play because their fitness levels are poor and again I know they cannot be everywhere especially on a quick break but how many times do we have to watch idiotic bookings that are not even fouls but cheating bastards conning the partially sighted tunnel visioned blind incompetents called referees

Odd how the disallowed goal isn’t included even in the extended highlights. It would be interesting to see a video compilation of all the referreeing errors so far.

Did anyone see the Watford VAR penalty? No way was that more of a foul than on McCallum and got given on review.

Watching the Charlton v Preston game. The officials are making some strange decisions in that game - a red card challenge that he produced a yellow, a few possible elbows that have gone unpenalized and being conned by diving.

VAR is just as bad - look at that Liverpool goal that was disallowed by an armpit - WTF

Honest answer Steve (but as usual some will disagree no doubts) to still be involved in the game that we all love which is football. Nothing more/nothing less. No power trip-no ego, just football but from a different viewpoint or perspective.
I won’t have it that they (or assistant referees as explained in another post) are always behind play as they regularly would be taking a fitness test for that level of football that they are officiating in which currently is L1. So all our officials that we see on a Saturday would have passed that test.
It’s a very poor choice of words that they are blind incompetents, they are not bias and obviously mistakes are made as they are human as are the players.
“All we want on a Saturday afternoon is a bit of consistency” is a favourite that we used to hear repeatedly. Well now we have VAR at the top level which is 100% consistent like it or not, but still people complain even though they can see it themselves, sometimes on the screen at the ground.
So in conclusion unless you have done it and are a fan/coach/parent on the side or in the stands the Referee will always be the villain.
My only regret is that I didn’t start earlier and probably would have had a good fist of getting higher than I am already.

Watch the linos and see how far behind they are most weeks, I don't mean just a little bit I mean a fair bit. Watch how every game so far there's been a decision they haven't seen which they should have.

The Fleetwood goal for example, the lino shit himself as he had no idea if the players were offside or not. He just stood there flustered looking at the ref.

The issue with VAR is the officials using it.

The crowd were really pissed off yesterday and got quite aggressive towards each other. This in the main part was due to the frustration of a shit referee and Cov fans being total twats. I thought that the ref was piss poor. The only thing I agreed with was Biamou being sent off

You obviously don't sit where I sit. There is a non stop barrage of abuse aimed at players and Robins from start to finish fom some 'fans'. I've never heard that where I sat at the Ricoh.

Couldn't really see anything from the highlights on here. It happened to fast to see durin the game. Have you seen a good replay of it? Kelly on the radio said he felt it was harsh. Apparently Biamou told Robins that he didn't know if he had caught him or not. Their player was certainly writhing around but that in itself is no indicator that anything happened or not. Nor is the fact that he was quickly up and able to carry on. Certainly didn't seem like a broken nose etc.

I played a decent level of football and the standard was shocking to say the least, i always played the game fair never had a booking or red carddespite having my name taken on numerous occasions because of 'getting in the refs ear' because they were wrong the worst ever beingca woman called Margaret Bostock an absolute joke that she was allowed to even get qualified along with plenty more, another one was Geoff Ankers (think you can guess his nickname) what a prize tool he was, i remember he always used to call for a lift because he didnt drive so one match he booked the guy who had given him a lift and got told to fuck off and walk when he wanted a lift back....ahhh karma I love it
