I still think it's 50/50 that it happens but it's certainly more credible than last time when Tim and Sandra were flapping their gums about things

But to say that sisu are somehow manipulating the uni is utter nonsense, the uni would have done their own due diligence on it and if they weren't happy they would never put their name on joint statements that's just not how they work

I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt at the moment after the way they have done things the last 4 years and let's see what happens, why do we always have to be so negative all the time

Your logical reasoning has no place here

Some of the comments about the senior people at the university make me smile- I think people are forgetting that when you are dealing with the top people at Warwick university you are dealing with some of the best minds you can get - They are not fools and do not take fools easily - They would easily see through any B—sit – I am not saying it will happen but with grants and outside investment it may well be a viable option

Absolutely mate, I've worked with Warwick and other unis for a long time and to think that they would be manipulated by some jedi mind tricks from joy is so laughable

I'm not saying it's definitely going to happen but it's certainly currently our best chance of getting a permanent owned base in Coventry and so let's see what happens and go from there

But if it was all complete horse shite why would the uni be happy to have their name all over the statements? We know what's in it for sisu but what's in it for the uni if that's the case

No risk whatsoever. All they've committed to is exploring the possibility of a partnership. Doing that shows them as progressive, outward looking, and potentially offers a halo for partners in other projects.

It falls through? Well, it was never there in the first place, and it wouldn't be the first, nor last, potential partner where talks got no further than a nice cup of tea and a tasty biscuit.

Universities often form partnerships with football clubs. So even if the ground is posturing there can be other links for them such as sports science opportunities, use of training facilities, exposure through sponsorship

All are good kudos points for a university

Or there isn't a massive conspiracy somewhere and they actually are talking and stuff is happening behind the scenes that is confidential

I dont know what is happening neither do you or anyone else not in the meetings so let's give them the benefit of the doubt, chill the fuck out and see what happens, rather than going into negative mode the second sisus name is mentioned

The way I look at it is this. I think Sisu still have some hope of a long term solution at the Ricoh, whether that be some kind of eventual ownership / part ownership, or a long term tenancy on comercially beneficial terms.
But they have to have a viable plan B otherwise their only other plan is eventual sale of the club, or some other kind of end game.
The EFL, for all their failings, will not tolerate this forever, nor will the supporters.
So 3 options
Some kind of return to the Ricoh
Build a new ground
Sale / liquidation of the club
probably in that order.
It is in their interest to stall on a new ground as long as they can reasonably get away with it, while there is any hope of a return to the Ricoh.
Maybe this is all rubbish, but that's how I would see the options.

A stadium built at Warwick Uni ain’t happening, infact a stadium built by sisu ain’t gonna happen even if they were gifted land somewhere in the city. They could have had the Ricoh or the lions share of it years ago for pennies compared to what a new ground will cost. Our only option is the Ricoh.
When is this bloody EU bollocks happening ?

You can't compare uwe and Warwick in stature as unis

It didn't work for them but who is to say it won't work for us, that's my point...

No one can dismiss it out of hand because no one knows what is happening, you can either take it on face value and see what happens or you can jump to conclusions based on what has happened in the past (with a mostly different group of people)

What do you mean you can’t compare them? Why? It’s a university - has its reputation been damaged? No.

You mentioned due diligence. What on earth of you on about?

Well you firstly have to have a reputation to be damaged

I imagine Sisus reputation amongst businesses/institutions in Coventry is utter dogshite (as rightly it should be with the things they have pulled in the past) so for the uni to even have talks with them they would have had to do some line of checks or due diligence that they were serious otherwise it would be a waste of their time.

I get you don't think it will happen, as I've said before I'm personally 50/50 but there is no evidence to point that it's just smoke and mirrors to get the Ricoh (*inset evil laughter here*) so you can't make concrete statements like you have because it's just not factually true

If it comes out it is all bullshit I'll be the first to call them out (as I was with the whole Northampton farce) but at the moment there are (all be it small) positive signs which for some reason people don't seem to like and I have no idea why

I'm with Covboy and Monkey. There was nothing to be lost by saying nothing, least of all now when getting to Brum is not an issue because it doesn't matter where we play, nobody is going. If anything the closure of grounds makes it easier for SISU in the short term - takes the pressure off.
I am persuaded by OSB's view above that Warwick has such a big brand that if this comes to nothing, so far at least, there is no reputational risk. Even so, as with the initial announcement, from the Uni's perspective neither is there an incentive to say something - unless there is something. Otherwise why bother? Uni's Business Development will always have lots of projects in the air, and this is just one. Many won't happen - it's just the name of the game.

Therefore
1. They have had at least one meeting
2. It went well - conditions not withstanding both sides remain up for it
3. Uni feel confident enough to allow a cautious press statement (at SISU's request undoubtedly, but approved by them)
4.So we are still less than 50/50 until the Uni says exactly which bit of land is earmarked.
5. Being precise about the exact location should be relatively easy and is the obvious place to start, so the silence regarding it is the greatest source of suspicion - unless I missed something

It’s nonsense and anyone taken In by it is allowing Seppalla to continue to indulge in this game of nonsense which ultimately will finish the football club

The Uni told the local Wainbody councillors when this first came out that the precise location of the stadium was dependent on the finalised plans for the A46 strategic link road. Presumably as there will be an exit to the campus that would also serve any potential stadium.

That was expected in the summer with a public consultation happening now however nothing seems to have happened from Warwick Councils side, possibly because of covid delays.

Personally I would have mentioned that in the club statement. It’s already info in the public domain but not widely known.

Absolutely not she only cares about making money out of us, but even you have to admit that the club has been run a lot better in the last 4 years or so.....

I don't think she has sky blue blood in her veins but at the same time her tact has changed in the last few years so I'm happy to see what happens rather than judge on the past seeing as the rhetoric around it is very different this time

we aren't playing in Coventry....

They have had several years to solve this jigsaw and again this week, a soundbite with a "we have informed the EFL, we won't be making another announcement until 2021"

Happy to wipe the slate clean based on their on field efforts, but even then, judging them on this year stadium plans, whats moved forward, 1 zoom meeting ?

I mean it's not like there is a global Pandemic affecting everything is there.... As said by people above, the location depends on the new road which is out of the control of either sisu or the uni which still hasn't been decided

At the end of the day I think there’s a good chance we’ll end up doing something with UOW. Will that be our new stadium? Doubtful. More likely to be a new training ground and academy funded by numerous grants, shared costs with UOW and the sale of Ryton for housing. The development of Ryton also gets a little more realistic as I understand that one of the conditions of Ryton being developed for housing is the replacement of playing surfaces in Warwickshire. A good logical move for all parties involved if you ask me.

Is a stadium on the site plausible? New road already confirmed straight from the A46 so access issues are alleviate to some degree. Sure I remember reading that there’s a proposal in place for a new train station on the Leamington to Coventry branch line to service the UOW so again, will alleviate to some degree travel to a new stadium. In fact the only real reason to dismiss a new stadium out of hand is the simple fact that SISU are involved.
