Bit of a trap because anyone would be mad to rule it out. If we leave and everything goes to shit and an overwhelming percentage of people want to rejoin should he just keep refusing? Of course that level of detail doesn't come over and he ends up looking a bit ridiculous.

Not as much as the papers at the weekend who had headlines declaring nearly half the country wants to rejoin which when you then read the article was the results of a poll showing 46% rejoin against 54% leave!

He’s lost the next general election if he doesn’t drop that idea

Yup, it's not that long since we had an outward looking, pro-Europe government, and there are a fair few years until the next election... probably. Conditions then will dictate policy.

@clint van damme Starmer's 'manifesto' is surprisingly left-leaning, really!

It is a trap, but when your campaign rests on your ability to avoid such traps falling into one isn’t a great look.

it is, and I said it needed someone to reach to both wings of the party making him ideal. But his stance on the EU won't get him/Labour anywhere. Also a bit dodgy that he won't reveal all of his backers when all the other candidates have.

It would again become the talking but at the next election - stupid strategy

No it shows he's not going to rule out some thing that maybe needed in the future, yes even by the north.

No it wouldn't as he's not said he's going to campaign to rejoin the EU.

He hasn’t ruled it out

I don’t believe labours hand wringing excuse that the brexit policy was mainly to blame for their failure but if we acknowledge that view it’s Mr Starmers strategy and it was a mess. Creating more ambiguity now isn’t a very clever idea and will be latched on

One thing I'm sure we can all agree on is that this process has gone on for far too long, get it over with already.

Only if he says he'll be campaigning for it. And he'll only be campaigning for it if the mood of the country is for it.

The mood of the country I thought was for a second referendum at the last election - he doesn’t seem very good at picking up moods does he?

I think the process actually takes this long anyway - bizarre and pointless but it is the case I think

Either way do you think Corbyn should of resigned? Surely he must be embarrassed at the PMQ's

Look you feeble flaccid sausage of brainlessness, he has already resigned, and they're electing the new leader.

It's not actually a difficult concept to grasp for my cat, so why you're incapable...

the selection process is what it is, Corbyn resigning on the spot wouldn't have speeded it up, as in leaving his post as he did resign, their would have been a temporary leader while the process was completed.

Is the selection process too long winded, probably.

It’s been extended by the Corbynites to add in the affiliates stage I believe as they thought that’d give their candidates more chance. So in a way, you can blame Corbyn.

He should’ve resigned. Having him up there at PMQs and hanging around the debate is cringeworthy.

Nope. Voted Nandy this election and Smith the last one. Voted Corbyn in 2015 because the others were terrible and I felt the country wanted radical change but post Brexit was clear he was a bad choice and they’d got the radical change from Brexit so that vote was gone.

Who would lead the party. There isn't a deputy leader at the moment to do it.

Nandy blew it with me in her Andrew Neil interview. She'd been doing well up until then.

Fair question. Maybe PLP could’ve elected someone? Give it to Harman as the longest serving MP?
