Why did anyone think signing a keeper from a top 6 club was going to come in as 2nd choice?

I like this signing, seems like a good shot stopper, and hopefully more commanding and less error prone than Burge.

But Pickford is dodgy as fuck at that level - very reminiscent of Burge IMO. Good shotshopper but makes massive howlers far too often. Ederson however I will give you - good with his feet but a quality keeper too.

I wouldn't go that far. Pickford's a good GK, it's just his lack of concentration and arrogance that let him down. But that can be ironed out.

But the main reason for errors is lack of concentration. And the main reason those never get rectified in training is arrogance. That's why he's made the same mistakes for the last few years.

I'd gone off the offal which has him at 1m 80cm but after checking with @SkyBluePete he confirms that his whole feet poke out of the end of the bed.

He's England's No.1. and had a great World Cup so he can't be that bad. As shown when he was linked with a move to Bayern during that summer. I sense he's probably had a 'hangover' from the competition - as many players are susceptible to. You only have to look at Trippier's form this season to prove that. Granted he's been guilty of the odd mistake throughout his career but you can't question his quality at that level off one poor season. He was terrific the season before last and proved his worth in a very poor Sunderland team the season before that.

Playing it out from the back is all well and good, but what's the point if you don't have decent ball players in midfield to take it on and link up with the forwards? We're missing a player or two in the Maddison mould.

Funnily enough, I’ve met the bloke, and he he was shorter than me. I’m not even 6”1.

He’s listed as 1.8m on the club website, which is 5”11.

Oggy did play for a few years after the backpass rule was introduced, but yeah, I get your point.

Oggy used to shoot when he had the ball in his hands. To be fair, it paid off once.
