Nation's league (3 Viewers)

Fair point. Was a glorified friendly though. Still think them and Spain are the ones to beat.
They are the teams to beat, as are we.

I disagree. When Belgium beat us in 2018, they looked head and shoulders above us. It was also Deschamps’ last game in charge so the motivation to beat us was there.

Had France went 4-0 up against us and won 6-4, it wouldn’t have been written off as a ‘glorified friendly’. Secondly, it would’ve confirmed that France were a superior side to us.

Should the english not be thrilled about beating world number 13 7-0 away from home , its a tremendous result

As much as you dont like it , England are one the of the worlds best football teams
Agree with that - the next Euros does feel like it’s now or never though.

There’s always this existential dread, we’ve got a good pipeline of developing players. Olise and Musiala are two players England have developed but play elsewhere and there’s more.

Bellingham, Gordon, Saka, Rice, Anderson and more, there’s talent there to see use through to 2030 at least and there will be players that no one heard of who blast onto the scene - look at Madjo.

No one really foreseen Spain bouncing back so quickly from the 2008-2012 dominance. Yamal was only a known quantity inside Moroccan, Spanish and Barca elite coaching circles.

It’s not dread - not winning Euro 2020 was a huge failure.

It wasn’t a ‘huge failure’, Italy were the team of the tournament that year but it’s the most bruising failure.

We do have a better team heading into 2028 at the current trajectory and if younger CBs mature, we could be in a v good spot.

Disagree - We were at home, Italy were an aging team, getting to the final was an achievement but when we got there - we should have won.

That was worse than the Argentina capitulation. We were a better team man for man than Italy. When we didn't score a 2nd by 30 mins we seemed to panic and drop back.

The drop back mentality is what will hold us back
We should have been out of sight by halt time & then Southgate didn't react quickly enough to Italy's change of tactics.

Nothing tops the Argentina capitulation. At the end of the day, we lost on penalties v Italy.

V Argentina, we went 1-0 up and from that moment had 12% possession and quite literally failed to string together more than 2 passes together until Argentina scored their second.

This narrative is said with hindsight and Italy’s struggles since. The real aging players in that team were Bonnucci and Chiellini.

The average ages for the two starting XIs was 28.2 years old, compared to 26.4. Bonucci and Chiellini alone pulls Italy’s average age above ours as they were the oldest players on the pitch by 3 and 6 years respectively.

A lot of players Italy had in that team should’ve went on to do much better players like; Veratti, Chiesa, Spinnazzola, Immobile, Belotti and Jorginho. Players who declined through injuries or complete loss of form.

Unlike Italy, we had the pipeline to replace players like Shaw, Walker, Trippier, Henderson, Phillips and most importantly Sterling over the years.

There were how many Italian fans in the stadium - 1,000? It wasn't just a failure, it was a humiliation.

This is just silly talk. We were slight favourites because we at home and would’ve been underdogs in a neutral venue. During COVID, it wasn’t a full house so these things even out slightly.

We’re not the only hosts to lose at home. It was bitterly disappointing but, humiliating? That’s just hyperbolic.

What other host lost a major tournament final at home where there were 1,000 opposition supporters and over 65,000 home supporters?

Brazil lost at home to Uruguay with over 120,000 home fans there

Who knew Owen Jones was a closeted Restore Britain sympathiser… 😂

Cracking pass out to Rogers. His cross wasn't bad either.

Yeah hype & delusion until it really matters.
Then England lose.
That 7-0 has ruined you hasn't it.

Forgive me but you do seem to be the typical 5ft bitter valleys nobhead of stereotype

Hope Kane can keep this level up for at least another tournament because atm, the drop off from him is insane.
