I get for managers and players it’s much better not to have the relentless matches of the lower leagues, but is anybody else missing the mid-week matches? Feels like the break between games is huge all of sudden.

And before anybody moans, this isn’t ’oh being the premier league sucks thing’. I’m enjoying it, but just really miss this aspect of lower league football.

Yep. And 3 weekends coming (2 weekends and a Monday night KO)

Yeh i agree, bored stiff waiting for games to come around. The international break is going to be really painful.

Yeah the worst thing is what 10% fewer games or something? Can we at least get a women’s team or a reserve side I can follow as well?

Im enjoying following the Championship, im currently watching Kitching's Sheff utd getting beaten, and loving it. 🤣🤣🤣

Didn’t know which one to watch. Put Cardiff v Stoke on at first, Cardiff looking very League One. Switched to Ewood Park now. Bolton 2-2 West Ham now too.

I’m watching the coventry city rejects losing to Burnley

If you're in the Premier League and not in Europe the calendar seems a bit sparse, isn't there a huge international break coming as well? By the end of the World Cup I was happy to not have any football for a while but I do miss how quickfire the Championship season feels in comparison.

Chilwell with an assist tonight to add to his goal at the weekend. He's looking a good signing.

Now the waters have broke for Hull I'm hoping?

Much prefer fewer games.
EFL/Championship was becoming more and more of a slog each season.
Absolutely agree. Way to many matches in lower leagues. A real slog to travel long distances for home games multiple times in a month . Not missing the midweek games(Did enjoiy Portsmouth game though!)

I did go to Plymouth from Manchester though and booked for Aston Villa today.

It does seem like there's a bit of a break between games. Might have to get a second team now.
Do what I do and cheer on whoever the blunts are playing

46 games a season v 38 games a season. That's only 1 league game a month less. We're noticing the difference because we're used to getting straight into 2 games a week. But there's 3 things for me that's a bonus.

1, With less players we see as 1st team players we have a better chance of keeping them fit.

2; The missing league games are midweek. The work/children problems aren't as bad.

3, Gives us a better chance of putting out a stronger side as we progress in cup competitions without badly weakening our team for league games. The only time we haven't finished higher in the league than the season before since we were in L2 was when we reached the SF of the FA cup.

I agree it's longer than we would like after a defeat, but it will also be longer to enjoy a good result.

There seems to be a new competition, National League Cup, with non league teams playing against PL & EFL u21 teams. I don't know if we're playing in that or have our u21s in whatever the checkatrade is now called but we should be entering competitions like these.

We’re not in Premier League 2. Anyone know why or how it’s decided?

Personally, as a fan, I find the wins away from home mid-week so rewarding. Obviously even worse when you lose though haha with the trip back.
Yes the drive home is especially depressing when we have lost and I'm expecting quite a few losses this season.

Really enjoy evening games….certainly better than those circadian rhythm busting 12.30 kick offs from the Championship.

We're not in EFL trophy or PL2 as we don't have a CAT1 academy

Edit: same with National League Cup

Do miss those games, though don't miss getting away from the CBS after night games.

Less midweek games is definitely easier to manage from a work perspective, especially away games down south
