It would have been interesting to see if this hyperbole reaction was the same had we won on Saturday.

for god sake get a life, are they not allowed a social life go with the family eat and drink what they like, these players are fit doesnt matter if they smoke, I bet half of the people on here smoke but couldnt run up the stairs let alone for forty five minutes with a 15 minute break before doing it again, Zidane smoked all the way through his career he is one of the worlds greatest players............ enough said.

Good post. I did find it odd that there was no training on Monday but there are loads of footballers who smoke. They do have a social life. There not buddist monks! For all we know McSheffrey may smoke like 5 a day.

At least now the excuse about not having a fitness coach can't be used when people are happy our players smoke.

Did you go Saturday? McSheffrey was fucked last half an hour. He ws slow, made less runs and just looked Knackered.

Thats my problem. He should be able to play 90 mins of footbal without blowing out of his arse a 1/3 of the game still left.

Apparently it doesn't matter any more. His right to smoke and get pissed is more important than his duties as a professional sportsman.

haha exactly mate. Some make me laugh on here. The reason we lose late on cause of not having a fitness coach but when a player smokes it won't affect him on the pitch. Comical on here eh

How can you compare our jobs to a footballer?

Smoking or drink doesn't affect how i work. Yet drinking and smoking would play a major factor on someone running around the pitch for 90 mins.

Lets all feel sorry for the footballers on 5k a week. Jesus Wept.

As do most teams?

It is good refuelling food.

Doesn't mean that most players smoke.

I would like to see if anyone on here actually believes smoking won't affect his performance on the pitch?

No not really is it a proven fact as others have posted there have been and still is world class who smoke,if he was running down the wing sparking 1 up mid game that may affect his performance yes

Surely doing something that will affect your ability to do your job is bad? When Eastwood was drinking he was a disgrace and should be sacked but it is ok for McSheff?

I have nothing against players having a good time and a beer, but after poor displays they should be beasted in training!

There all back Thorn as I bet there isnt a drop of disclipline, we all love a boss who lets us get away with murder!!

If those world class players has lost pace and couldnt last 90 minutes I am sure their managers would say something?

haha priceless. I can't believe you actually think smoking won't affect how he plays. If Saturday is anything to go by it certainly does. He was fucked. He's a winger and he stopped tracking back once the defender went past him to score there first

Thank you Nick.. i think some posters forget were in a relegation battle. If i was thorn i'd be getting the players in for extra training. That performance Saturday was woeful

I saw Keogh and Cranie at the m and s on the a45 on friday at about 12.15 getting some snap. Makes you wonder how long they trained for?

By the sounds of it, I am not surprised the players apparently love him.

Nobody is asking these players to be monks, what we are saying is that they should be professional, smoking is not being professional, drinking is different, I don't mind them drinking as long as it isn't Kevin Thornton style. You want your players to bond and there's nothing better then going out having a few beers.

These players are paid thousands a week to keep themselves in tip top shape,

I understand both points of the argument, if it isn't a regular thing I wouldn't be to worried. Disappointing it is after one of our worse displays of the season. If this was Eastwood, Bell, Baker the pitch forks would be out.

cUS, do you lie in a darkened room trying to think up different ways of slagging the club and players off? You've posted some corkers in the past, but this really is scraping the bottom of the barrel. So he was smoking and drinking? Whatever next, you'll be saying he likes a curry next, the bastard!!i

If this was the nightbefore the game then fair enough, but the night after? Ridiculous. I don't suppose you've ever been to the pub after a shit day at work as your body is probably a temple. I wonder if you'd have still posted this if you'd seen him after the Leeds game?

To be fair though, Nick's shock at spotting Keogh in M&S is even worse.

Move along people, there's nothing to see here.

This is hilarious, people make it up as they go along.

From now on the fitness coach argument really cannot be used if this is people's views by those making up excuses.

I think they only do mornings. Not too sure. Footballers have a lot of spare time on their hands.

Here we go... I'm a fan who witnessed on Saturday dreadful lack lusture performance. Then i hear a player who was fucked with 30 mins left smoking and drinking till 6am on a monday morning in one of Cov's biggest dives.

So you think its ok for Professional footballers to be smoking?

As for Nicks spot, i think he's baiscally saying. When do our players actually train? They have Monday off and Friday afternoons so train 3 1/2 days a week. No wonder the fitness levels are not the best.

I go the pub and smoke most days but the difference is i'm not a footballer, going to the pub and smoking 10 a day doesn't affect my job. Somehow i think smoking would affect a footballer.

After his awful performance he was up the Oak in Town Sunday night and the dafty was smoking.

So i take it No training on Monday then despite a shocking display. No wonder were in the bottom 3. Manager giving players the monday off and players smoking and drinking at 3 in the morning in a shithole.

Ah, classic responses - I hear he was drinking.

''I'm not a footballer''.

I don't care whether footballers smoke or not. As others have points out, a lot of them do. Its a non story, just another stick to beat the club with.

These lot make it up as they go along. Apparently fitness is no longer the issue with the squad, it is funny how things change so quickly.

I am sure that millions will now rejoice worldwide now that we have found out smoking has a minimal effect on the body.
