I think there’s a legitimate question over whether he can take a team to the next level single-handed (kind of why I started the thread) but he is an extraordinarily consistent player.
It isn't just his consistency but how durable he is. He missed as many games waiting for his transfer to go through as he'd had missed in about his last 5 seasons. He played with an injury this game that would have a few players out injured and still has a great game.

"We signed Matt grimes, and it opened up our eyes
We signed Matt Grimes
Midfield hes commanding, with his understanding
We signed Matt Grimes and it opened up our eyes
We signed Matt grimes
He is gonna drag us up
To get into the Prem
Where we belong"

Rudoni so many potential songs as I have said before.
Rudi, Rudi Rudi ah ah etc Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs.
Rudoni superstar how many goals have you scored so far to Jesus Christ Superstar
and my favourite to the Clash Rudi Cant Fail: We are rude and reckless, we all drink brews for breakfast, we jump up and down relentless, cause Rudi cant fail. Or we all snort coke for breakfast for the younger chaps.
A Message to You Rudi is Cov appropriate but needs some new lyrics.

Torp makes him I think. That midfield without Torp lacks cut through but with Torp Grimes can do the simple stuff very well, mop up and be an option and leave Torp to do the visionary stuff. All three working so well together right now.

What a dream team in the middle. Grimes is the glue from defence to midfield. Rarely loses the ball and his vision is amazing. Grimes and Torp have such a good understanding. Then we have Rudoni. Torp and Rudoni are a nightmare to defend against. Always a threat from distance and always a threat of running straight through the middle of you.

In all seriousness all 3 would be at least serious contenders for a place in any midfield in any club in the Championship. We have all 3 together. Grimes is a monster that plays through 'knocks' like nothing has happened. So good with the ball and great vision. Who wouldn't want a Torp or a Rudoni 😂

Might be haha, but glad he’s got one. Just Rudoni who needs one now.

Matt Grimes knocks it around;

Raphael is the future,

Torp…Tats…EMC.

The best midfield in town.

Ahhahhhaaa…

RUDI!

A message to Ru-do-ni.

I think the idea that it takes months or a whole summer for a coach to get their ideas across is cope TBH. You know within a few months what you’re getting and it’s not likely to change. We’ve got the sort of football Derby fans said we’d get really. I don’t think Lampard and the coaches know how to set up an attack. If Rudoni and Wright aren’t having a day then we’ve got nothing.
Lovely, lovely content.

“The sort of football Derby fans said we’d get” - just really, really lovely stuff.

I mean up until Hull it was. What the fuck switched after the Hull game I’ve no idea. I’ll happily eat my humble pie here.

We said the same in the car last night , its as if after hull frank said fuck it we will try the new stuff and we play completely different .

Lets not forget there were times even against hull where we just took so much time to get the ball in the box and forward we were doing absolutely nothing like we are now

I was worried he’d sit too deep with a back 3 but he adapted well

brilliant player cannot believe a prem team hasn’t taken a punt on him, Swansea fans weren’t very complimentary but his game count says otherwise

Still think we were actually kind of unlucky against Hull. Our shooting was really poor that day but you could see we were the better team. Early season rust I put it down to.

Yeah, we played quite well and should have won the game. I think our weakest performance of the season overall is the Leicester game tbh.

The only draw that i would say leaned the way of the other team was Leicester who had the one clear cut chance in the game. Hull was a slow start of the season affair but we could have won it another day. Oxford we should have killed them first half and Haji definitely should have killed them in injury time. Norwich should have been an absolute slaughter.

Grimes has that rare ability to always turn away from trouble when receiving the ball. It's almost like a sixth sense and means he will nearly always open up space for himself.
Guardiola was the same in his Barcelona playing days and Xavi was another.
We are very fortunate to have him.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that since he’s come into the team we’ve gone up a level.

Said the other week he’s the best player we’ve signed for years. I get the argument of gyokeres or Hamer but Grimes is the engine of the team. Everything we do goes through him just a proper proper player who’s never below a 7/10.

Makes the game look easy.
