Robins comments after the game regarding Godden… clearly unhappy despite minutes/appearances being similar etc. Despite that he’s still on the bench for me as Ellis is far more effective as occupying defenders which in turn create the space.

Matty Godden scoring his 50th goal for the Club…

“I think that is a really good achievement.

“He is professional to the nth degree, he gets himself in a really good positions and he's disappointed not to be starting all the time, but having said that, I assured him yesterday that the minutes are very, very similar between both him Haji and Ellis are very similar.

Robins is going to say this ain’t he. He’s not going to come out and say sorry fans I’ve spunked all of you lots season ticket money on a waste of space. You’ve even been sucked in by him. Grow a pair and open your mind.

He scored 2 goals yesterday and didn't celebrate either don't like seeing players not celebrate when a goal is scored time for him to go now we don't need sulks in the camp

I’m indifferent to Godden.

I think he did a great job in Lg1, and has been ok in the Championship, but I don’t think his alround game justifies his selection now.

2 goals against a bang average lg1 team when they are already beaten and tired doesn’t change that.

If he stays I hope he scores a tonne of goals and stops sulking.

I'd like to point out simms failed to score against beaten and tired league 1 opposition before he went off ..

“Sulking”.

I just don’t see it. Some of you must be stalking him around Ryton. Even if he was (he’s not), wouldn’t we all be gutted if we weren’t so flavour of the month anymore and fell down the pecking order? Nah, try harder with your celebration next time!!

Best finisher at the club, and has been for nearly 5 years. Super Matty Godden.

Because he know robins is playing simms to save his own skin. It wasn’t very long ago Robins was under a bit of pressure we were awful and simms was a major signing. The teams picked up so he’s put him in. Let’s be honest we’re 8th and it’s not been a great season. Yes things have picked up but we’re not where we should be. This league isn’t that great bar the top 4 we should be in the play offs.

Just a morning reminder before we move to a space where criticism of a player isn't allowed on this forum... having opinions on a forum like this is very different to going after someone on their own social media. I think Godden has been pretty damn bad recently and we seem a better team with Simms up top, albeit he needs to improve also.
I wouldn't tell Godden this on his own social media as its out of order and it doesn't take away from what a good signing he's been for us. A move that was very good for him too btw. This club has allowed him an opportunity to perform at a level that he may not have got to otherwise.

Simms won't get close to 50 goals in the Championship for us.

We'll have been promoted before he gets the chance.

Yeh difficult to see him getting another 47 this season. 3 extra play off games though so half a chance maybe?

It’s hilarious - I make one minor criticism of simms and the clique try and shut me down yet most of the evening seemed to be spent slagging godden off for not celebrating his goals properly

Both sides of this argument are frankly bizarre........ One person makes a huge assumption based on spurious evidence and then 10 others immediately jump to the complete opposite assumption based on the square root of fuck all. May I suggest going for a walk outside? It's nice out.

Not sure it matters whether Godden Simms Wright or anyone else scores, Robins will be judged on results and not signings.

Hillsner, Jobello, Walker, Waghorn are just a few that weren't successful but the team were. No recruitment can be 100% due to so many outside factors.

The only reason the discussion has intensified is because we're discussing higher values, but it's the team that counts every time.

If you bear in mind for all players but especially strikers when they score they automatically experience a euphoric moment to celebrate, to hold it in like Godden did yesterday, must be a strong reason. Trying not to read into the actual reason but there clearly is one.

Godden has been a great player for us and like others I seriously doubt whether we would even be in the Championship without him. He fully deserves our respect and gratitude for what he has done for us.

All players have a use-by date. I'm far from convinced that his has arrived yet and he showed yesterday that he hasn't lost his finishing skills. I think we should keep him at least until the summer unless we can get in a better replacement this month.

The rub may be that, barring injuries to Wright or Simms, his role is increasingly likely to be from the bench which may not be a role that he is prepared to accept. If that is the case then I think that, in fairness to him, we let him go with our grateful thanks.

Well that problem might be with idiots giving him abuse on the internet. Some fans are so entitled that they feel they can say what they want but still expect the player to kiss the badge and kick the corner flag.

Would we prefer Godden to be happy and smiling sitting on the bench seeing a striker with 3 goals in 28 games continually played in front of him.

At some point he’s got to realise he’ll be phased out regardless. That’s said if someone was going to give him a slap…

Let Kitching put one on him… doesn’t look like he takes any shit.

Otherwise Fadz has got a punch on him based on the mega bowl bonding trip
