True , but he doesn't do an awful lot in matches apart from score , is the point .. scored a hatrick once with 7 touches in a match

This has always been the problem with Godden. If he's scoring, he warrants a place in the team, when he's going through a lean spell then he just doesn't contribute enough bar pressing.

2 brilliantly taken goals today, we were dominant and on top, and Allen put two superb balls into him in the box. In the league though he's scored just 1 in his last 16 appearances. We just don't create those opportunities, for either Godden Or Simms.

For what it's worth; I fucking love Matty Godden. My favourite player, my lads favourite player and a player who I think never gets the credit he deserves.

The back to back hatrick's. Will always stick in mind was behind the goal for them. That was a massive turning point think it was actually our first away wins. End of year and new years day.

If he stays he needs to stop his petulant goal celebrations ( fingers in ears ) ( no reaction ) and get on with it …. His supporters don’t deserve it and his critics are given more ammunition ….

He defo looked in a mood after both goals. Prob doesn't think he should be dropped?

Or doesn't think he'd appreciated by fans I guess

Tbh I hope its that he's in a mood with fans, if he's in a mood with Robins' decisions on who to play then that's much more of a problem.

If he keeps scoring he can stick his finger up his arse as for all I care. I hope it's going up 20 times a season.

Quite possibly. He scored 2 good goals against a L1 team at the end when they were shot. He doesn’t get that space and time in the Championship. That yard of pace he’s lost is effecting his ability against Champ defences. Not a criticism as he’s been a top striker for us, but a reflection of where he is at his age and ability now.

I hope he’s here till the end of the season as he still good to have in the squad.

Just a morning reminder before we move to a space where criticism of a player isn't allowed on this forum... having opinions on a forum like this is very different to going after someone on their own social media. I think Godden has been pretty damn bad recently and we seem a better team with Simms up top, albeit he needs to improve also.
I wouldn't tell Godden this on his own social media as its out of order and it doesn't take away from what a good signing he's been for us. A move that was very good for him too btw. This club has allowed him an opportunity to perform at a level that he may not have got to otherwise.

Criticism of performance is fine, personal abuse online is pathetic and unacceptable.
Godden scored his two goals both of which were very good.
I do believe he's underated by many, but unfortunately he's slowly coming towards the end of his journey in Sky Blue , nothing lasts forever PUSB .

He’s probably pissed off as he knows Simms is a cart horse and double his wages, he’s come on and scored 2 in a short cameo whilst Simms couldn't get a shot on target. Robins is only playing Simms as he’s spent so much money on him to cover his own skin.

Robins comments after the game regarding Godden… clearly unhappy despite minutes/appearances being similar etc. Despite that he’s still on the bench for me as Ellis is far more effective as occupying defenders which in turn create the space.

Matty Godden scoring his 50th goal for the Club…

“I think that is a really good achievement.

“He is professional to the nth degree, he gets himself in a really good positions and he's disappointed not to be starting all the time, but having said that, I assured him yesterday that the minutes are very, very similar between both him Haji and Ellis are very similar.
