Max Biamou Goals

Hey all. Another goals video I’ve recently made. Hope you all enjoy. Will be interesting to see if maxi stays and fights for his place in the championship. Also someone asked if I could make a kelly one and good news I’m looking into it and finding clips and it should be on the way soon...

He wouldn't even take a £10 bet on something when I asked him to and offered him a substantial sum the other way

Robins would obviously disagree as Biamou was probably the most used lone striker, certainly in the second half of the season.

"
I stand by it Grendel Junior.
In terms of the squad last year he had the most physicality in holding the ball up as the lone front man and his volley technique in scoring some of the most spectacular goals over the past 4 years was excellent - but I guess it's easier for some just to deride our own players week over week and call them shit right?
I support the lads in the shirt and the manager - and try to give a balanced view on all players particularly if they are getting a battering week after week from the usual suspects."

Nope

Still doesn't say Biamou was the fittest player and best finisher

He played him over three of the strikers our friend on here thinks are better lone strikers than Biamou. Strange he was played if he is the poorest.

Whether he was given a new deal or not has nothing to do with the way Robins picked his team last season.

When he had Walker,Gyokores and sometimes an admittedly only partially fit Godden, he more often than not opted for Biamou (who himself was carrying an injury). Now why would Robins deliberately select the worst lone striker of the 4 to play the lone striker role?

Well the answer is simple, at that particular time and for those particular games, Biamou, in Robin's opinion, was the best available player to do the job he wanted.

I don't think that's the full story. Realistically he was picked because others weren't able to perform to their best. Walker was struggling with his fitness, Godden had a debilitating injury. Gyokeres wasn't fully fit and was rebuilding his confidence following his time at Swansea and there was just no chance Robins was ever going to start Baka.

I think Walker can be a good player for us, I just don't think that playing the lone striker role is how we will see him at his best. I've watched his three performances this season when he should be over his illness and getting towards full fitness and in his loan striker role, he hasn't impressed. Two of these performances were against League 1 and League 2 defences. Its true that in none of the games did he get any service or support but I also feel that a more physical striker would have made more of an impression.

Gyokores doesn't seem to be a target man striker at all. Firstly he seems to prefer coming in off the left rather than playing centrally. He also seems to much prefer playing facing his opponents goal rather than with his back to it. A couple of times he ran directly at the Cheltenham defence and did this really well. I think he will be a good signing and a good striker for us, but not by playing centrally and on his own.

Biamou has gone and I have no problem with that.I think we have improved our attacking options. However, I don't think any of our strikers, with the possible exception of Godden, has the attributes to play the lone striker as well as he did.

That one statement right there proves you have zero knowledge of the game - or most likely actually didn't see any of our games last year. In Godden's absence last season Max was by far the most effective in the lone striker role. But I guess you know better than Robins right?

Sorry Danny but it was obvious Biamou lacked the quality to successfully lead the line on his own. His movement was appalling, his general hold up play was lacking, he didn’t win nearly enough in the air for someone of his size and on the few occasions he found himself in a good goal scoring position he missed sitters. Sorry but he is an atrocious footballer at this level

And yet Robins frequently picked him when others were available. Genuine question, why?

We weren’t exactly flush with attacking options and we got rid at the end of the season so Robins agrees that he’s not up to it
