Manchester City - 115 Charges (4 Viewers)

Integrity out of the window, but integrity bought it about, huge monetary fine plus some other form points penalty that keeps the season alive?
Plus the timing of this is strange, why have the PL gone in this direction now, it's a baffling thing to me,to potentially wreck the model can only wonder the extent of this if there is an in to international element running alongside?

Aslong as they come up first go it doesn’t matter financially what they do in the champ as they will be out of reach from the efl Punishment wise until they are back there again
It makes a massive difference. If all the numbers are correct and they're well off making the numbers for the Championship they would be in for a massive points deduction.

They use 'real time reporting'. WBA gave a donation to a local charity of £2.1m. It was counted in their budget and they went £1.9m over their budget for which they got deducted 2 points. Where would Manchester City stand if they're hundreds of millions off their target?

Even more, the rules include restrictions on commercial and sponsorship deals linked directly to club owners or associated parties. This would cause a major problem for both sides as it's a long standing contract.....that started all of this.

This could get very interesting.

The investigation really has screwed up with the timing on this. Hard to see how they can dish out anything now which is fair on all teams. Unless they can effectively declare all past and future results as null and void, even if they announced a points deduction guaranteed to relegate them, it’s a stretch to think that won’t adversely impact on future fixtures and potentially what happens in January if decided before then. Clearly we’d like them relegated, but also need them to be motivated to take points off our competition who are yet to play them. Noting of course many lawyers are suggesting this can and will somehow rumble on beyond the end of the season, assuming of course a “deal” is not done which would presumably only happen if it was a huge fine but leave them in the Prem which their owners might accept. Crazy times …
The halfway point of the season would be the perfect time to publish the punishment. The main difference then would be home v away. We played them near the start of the season so the return game should be towards the end of the season. They will definitely know what is happening by then.

I quite enjoyed yesterday . Liverpool fans outraged and bellowing cheats and then absolutely twatted on. Mugs.

Would be fairly amusing to see the apoplectic fans of the other big clubs if city are exonerated or win the league by a few points and find their punishment is next season . Artetas head might explode

I’m of a different view and feel sympathy for the other teams.

Your view seems a bit off piste. I’d have happily seen Liverpool stuff em. Instead we see the arrogance of players in denial/ confident that they are going to be OK. Yet there is no humility with this. It’s abysmal. Just wrong.

The Liverpool result was highly predictable. Liverpool with a few injurys, City with siege mentality. I thought City would be comfortable winners.

The charges relate to 2009-2018 so 8 years ago. You can't really blame the current players for it as very few were even at the club then. I'm not even sure the players back then knew what was going on.

I think anyone who finishes above them will be champions this season without a points deduction for City.

They should be relegated, get a transfer ban and get the biggest fine in football history for what they did over that 9 years. I don't see any way they are expelled from the Premier League and it wouldn't surprise me if the Panel bottle it and give them a 40 or 50 point deduction which sees them stay up.

Some sources saying a 40-50 point deduction in the pipeline. Proper joke if so.
Surely it has to be 60-70 to ensure the punishment of relegation?

Also I don't see any exodus as they may still be in with a chance of winning domestic and European cups

If they get points deducted do they start on say minus 60 or do the pts already gained this season count against the decision.

It will be 50-60 points imo, they won't kick them out of the league and a -100 points would bring into question the integrity of matches for the rest of the season (what happens if they just play the u18s for the rest of the campaign? ) they will want it so Man City will likely get relegated but just keeps them enough interested that they could get enough points to survive. I think 60 points deducted achieves that. Man City will need to get 90-95 points over the season to have a chance of survivng with a -60

If Man City have been bending/breaking the rules to enable them to buy success then they should also have transfer embargo for a similar amount of time and not be able to but any players other then free transfers or out of contract players
See how they deal with years of no transfers
