What's your point?
Any thoughts on why an ex-Royal Marine dad of 3 would allegedly do this sort of awful act?
As with most tragedies it's extremely complex, nuanced and possibly linked to mental health issue (as Southport was).
For the racists though (expecting and hoping it was a black muslim terrorist )... this time its best to keep your powder dry this time on stoking the Reform culture wars and wait for the next attack.

I honestly don't know why it's happened, I can't see it was pre planned but I don't know and I guess we won't until the court proceedings start. He's done a horrible thing and shouldn't have in that area with a vehicle, so will be good to get some clarity on why it's happened.

Yeah I'm sure they will keep their powder dry and the people happy on this thread can wank over the fact it was a "white guy". The glee from both sides is horrific to watch.

I presume all those outraged by the 'quiet choir boy' stuff are equally disgusted with this guy being described as a nice quiet family man.

The amount of chortling and usage is concerning on this thread, considering the amount of innocent people hurt.

I don’t think you need to pretend the innocent people are paying much attention to this thread, or that the people mocking the racist weirdos are at all downplaying what they’ve been through.

That's not what I've said and you know it. As usual trying to make a story that isn't there and taken out of context.

I was referring to posts celebrating his ethnicity rather than thinking about the victims. And that in my mind is equal as race bating from the racists. White, black, Asian, shouldn't matter, it should be about the victims first second and last!

That's an embarrassing comment from someone who has just preached telling people to think more before you post and stop winding people up. Classless.

Another one who has either misunderstood or has compassion for the perpetrator when it should be for the victims.

Yes, it’s lucky there wasn’t any discussion in the Southport thread that tried to score points or didn’t centre the victims. I’m sure you would have pointed it out if there was.

The comment is ridiculous - the "choir boy" image was a world away from the image when he committed the attack. The criticism was the attempt to portray a false image of the actual reality. He was developing terrorist poison in his bedroom.

He was literally a choir boy. I know you struggle with facts.

If you have a problem with that then I can only assume you have a problem with this guy being described as a nice, friendly, family man who runs his own business.

No rational person is glad it's any guy of any colour. It's the ones who immediately said it was a terrorist Islamic attack who should be embarrassed.... they never ever learn to pause and wait for the facts. Facebook is full of these sad conspiracy theorists, racism, misogyny , homophobic and just all round hatred of everyone not like themselves. (That said Wrexham fans online are fcuking irritating!)

I'm not convinced they were trying to portray him in a more positive light, the tabloid press often seem to have a bit of a fetish for building up a person's descent into crime/darkness. I am guessing it sells more papers, gossipmongering essentially, the 'what went wrong' story arc.

They would have to. If they do it for one ethnicity then they should do it for all.

We know what the reaction would have been on Social Media - and here - and maybe in the streets if his skin had been a different colour.

Exactly, so releasing their ethnicity if NOT whiter-than-white would be tantamount to a breach of the peace.
If the people in the crowd on Monday had seen it was someone other than who it (allegedly) was, he would be pushing up the daisies by now, i'd bet!
It's an impossible situation for the police, but they failed to learn the lessons of the attack in Magdeburg.

The suggestion that the media was rushing to portray the Southport killer in a more favourable light - as if their readers were desperate for more sympathetic coverage of a deranged child murderer - always made zero sense.

Also as if it was going to stop knuckle dragging racists from throwing petrol on the fire and attacking policeman for protecting immigration hotels

The picture shown of the person who has been charged is him now. Not a picture of him when a child.

It’s not hard - even for you - to see the difference

As if any of that provides an excuse! I am very surprised by the rolling back on the scale and severity of the charges compared to the arrests cited above.

The driver hasn't been charged with any drink or drug offences. Is it possible that he has genuinely taken a wrong turn and got caught in a crowd that has turned very hostile very quickly and panicked when his car was attached thus causing the injuries to people?
He clearly hasn't gone down the road at high speed like some of the Christmas market attacks that have been publicised in the past ie 40-50mph.
I'm sure the evidence at the trial will come out and confirm his state of mind before and during the incident and might give a little more clarity on the events.

He’s not going slow though
Wonder what the outcry will be if he gets a slap on the wrists
