They only had to declare the ethnicity to stop the nonsense conspiracy theories that X feeds on.
And Facebook and football forums, not just this one.
Releasing his ethnicity was a sensible thing to do.

Yes we all know that.
But the issue then is, what do they say when the inevitable happens again and it's not a white person?
The police's job is to maintain order, and as much as people will be curious and want maximum transparency, the police will release as much or as little information as they deem necessary.
I mean there will inevitably be another atrocity sooner or later. (Unfortunately that's a given)The "inevitable". FFS. Don't even try and hide it.
Would it be the sensible thing to do if it wasn't a white person? And Facebook and football forums, not just this one.

You can choose to think otherwise of course, that's the issue with social media, you'll always have someone who chooses to interpret what's written to fit their own agenda.
Well in that case I think you've misunderstood.I've seen enough of your posts to know what your agenda is.
Would it be the sensible thing to do if it wasn't a white person?
Genuine question, as I fear the police are in a no win situation here.
But that then opens them up to accusations of starting trouble, (should trouble arise)They would have to. If they do it for one ethnicity then they should do it for all.
We know what the reaction would have been on Social Media - and here - and maybe in the streets if his skin had been a different colour.
But that then opens them up to accusations of starting trouble, (should trouble arise)
Personally I'd think saying nothing about ethnicity at all is the best thing to do.
From now on they have to say something as no comment will be taken as saying it's non white anyway.
I get it's an awful position for the top police officer to be in, says a lot about society.
Why?They would have to. If they do it for one ethnicity then they should do it for all.
It might not even have been an issue. So, what would have happened if they'd not mentioned his ethnicity?
Why?
Which is why the police will continue to only release information as and when it suits them - good!Because you'll get all the two tier Kier bollocks.
It's a lose-lose situation, I guess. Mention his ethnicity (and he's the 'wrong' colour) then the racists will riot. Don't mention his ethnicity and the racists will riot as they will jump to conclusions.
It really is a sad state of affairs.

Is it really all about ‘colour ‘or is it the fact that most terrorist incidences have usually involved people from a certain religious group.Because you'll get all the two tier Kier bollocks.

Yeah, there was a lot of stuff online saying he wasn't white, he was an arab and that the police were covering it up. There were literally thousands of witnesses. It says a lot about conspiracy theorists
I’ve seen a theory that the drivers image is an AI fake and the driver was not white.
Police had to ensure there was no rioting as a result of this
But that doesn't fit in with the narrative a certain part of society (let's call them racists) want to believe - that these incidents are only done by Muslims or darker skin tones.Yeah, there was a lot of stuff online saying he wasn't white, he was an arab and that the police were covering it up. In this case it was obviously nothing to do with terror or religion.
I think if the Southport murderer had been 18 it would have been different messagingTbf he has a point, because when they do say that, it will inevitably lead to more of the same online problem. I know they wanted to quell speculation, but it does have consequences for the future and I think it would have been better saying nothing and let the race baiters hang themselves as usual. The difficulty they had was in the geography that makes the statement understandable being close to Southport. Had it been anywhere else, eg one of the London parades, I don't think they'd have made the same statement.

The Southport stabbing was particularly hideous and disgusting and I don’t give a fuck about the pathetic nonsensical political reaction that follows crimes against multiple people but generally over the last 20 years for whatever reasons so many have come from religious extremists. Many of them foreign born and with values very different to our own, by that I mean ordinary British people just trying to get on with their lives. It’s about colour. The Southport stabbing was because he was black and foreign and people made up that he was a Muslim too to justify it.

Is it any wonder that people jump to conclusions when shit kicks off.
There have been terrorist attacks all over Europe recently and many can be attributed to the same brainwashed morons![]()
I wasn’t lumping anything altogether was I, I was explaining why many other people jump to conclusions.Neither this nor Southport were terrorist attacks or religious extremists. You just lump them all together to keep the narrative going. Which is exactly the point.
