Good opportunity for the u23 squad to show their talent in front of a few hundred.
And a chance for a beer and a bit of banter.

Easier than offering refunds they should give everyone a ticket at the turnstile for a free pie or pint. Would keep from those that don't attend and a nice generous concession that won't cost them so much.

Confirmed by Boddy that there's a covid outbreak in the first team.
We have had a number of our players and staff have received positive COVID tests this week. 2 senior first team players tested positive today and will now self-isolate for 10 days. As a consequence, we decided that the first-team group and those travelling to Spain should not attend on Saturday as a precaution.

“We worked incredibly hard last season to protect the playing squad and management against contracting COVID but it is becoming increasingly more difficult to do that as Government restrictions are lifted.

“This is as a precaution to protect the rest of the squad following the positive cases and hopefully ensure we can undertake the important training in Spain.

Fair play that's a great gesture, 🤔 wonder if they can stop people gaming the system and buying a Lem ticket just to get the free ticket

Fingers crossed the staff are only mildly affected and that it has been contained quickly enough.

It's bound to be an ongoing issue with the easing of restrictions. Not sure how clubs/rules are going to be affected, but it is not difficult to see clubs either having to field weaker teams or cancel fixtures. This delta version of the virus seems harder to keep at bay than the previous version which still caused issues (we could potentially have widespread Rotherham situations?)

Something will have to change otherwise the season will be a write off.

Ashely Giles, England's Director of Cricket, has spoken about this after the entire England squad had to go into isolation and be replaced with a whole new group of players. He confirmed there was no breach of the teams strict covid protocols but that they are now in an impossible situation. They're no longer getting exclusive use of hotels and that with the Delta variant the hotel staff that come and go are more likely to bring something in. Similarly crowds coming back into grounds has meant not only all those people to worry about but more staff in grounds.

Its hard to see how this won't become an issue in the coming season. if there's problems now its only going to get worse when everything opens up with absolutely nothing in place to try and stop covid circulating.

Won't need to isolate if you've had 2 jabs.

It feels like we are in some weird hybrid environment... Where things are 'almost normal' with the hand brake almost released, but vigorous testing & isolation still applies. Hence this & the Eng ODI squad

I would assume (and I may be totally wrong here), if we are to 'live with covid', then all playing staff will be fully vaccinated and then only players who are unwell from it (which should not happen, but who really knows) would miss games.

I only thought about this for a minute... Although, to be fair, that's 30 seconds more than the government have on this!

If players test positive (whether they are well or not) they will have to isolate - so out of action for 10 days.
