Back in court after seafood noodles and a Greggs coffee in hand. Sisu QC summing up and laying into ACL's viability as a going concern.

Fair play to the bloke, he's been going for hours now. Not sure he'd be top of my list for a dinner party tho'

Sisu QC says council loan was "double" the value of ACL, there was no chance of shareholder dividends and wasn't worth the risk of pub funds

Are we on about the beer and pie money again is that what the pub funds are ??

Sisu QC now into references to previous cases. Apparently we have something in common with Austria on this one. And now Copenhagen...

Is that a thing? I boycott Starbucks for sporting and taste reasons but this sounds like something they'd be up to

@TheSimonGilbert: Sisu QC says case law shows local arenas sufficiently important to engage EU state aid rules. Points to example in Copenhagen

Sisu QC says Sisu’s Joy Seppala and Laura Deering wanted to lead joint negotiations along with council to buy the ACL debt off Yorkshire Bank as they feared the council would turn up “with their wallet hanging out.”

no chance of seeing SISU turn up with their wallet hanging out !

Just to point out UK has an excellent record when it comes to the use of State aid.
as stated on https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...-747-state-aid-frequently-asked-questions.pdf

QUOTE:
The UK has an excellent record of State Aid compliance and only five negative judgements against us in over forty years. Our record compares favourably against other member states with similarly sized economies.
The pie chart below illustrates the total number of negative judgements against the five biggest spenders on State Aid in the EU between 2000 and 2010.

Anyone think the CCC may be the sixth.

Check out the PIE chart in this document. Italy and Germany are scandalous.

Could be a smoking nuclear weapon for all the difference it's going to make, with regards to coming home I fear.

Sisu QC says council recognised the state aid risk but thought it was OK to become a bank to ACL. This was “ridiculous,” he says.

thats the winner line from SISU and the judge cant disagree with that.

Ha! Sisu QC just referenced the scene in Blazing Saddles where the sherif holds up himself. Missed out verbatim quote with the N-word.

And it's over to the council QC...

CCC & ACL are autonomous and separate. There were often tensions between the two.

No sign of Les Reid in court. Unless he's hiding under a wig and gown...

Sisu QC closes by saying ACL move to put club into receivership was "suicidal". Council QC on feet now.
