Weren't we linked with Liverpool's Ki-Jana Hoever last season?

If so, it wouldn't surprise me if MR reignited interest again. I remember him playing in a cup match against Wolves and he didn't look out of place at all. Will inevitably need to be loaned out to further his development though. Would be a great addition to the squad in my opinion.

Klopp doesn’t really do loaning out players if I recall correctly. That said, with Alexander-Arnold in that position at his young age basically tying down right back for the next 6+ years, there may be some flexibility.

Hi Sky Blues.
We're starting to hear similar rumours down here.
Where he fits into our side I don't know as we have the superb Adam Webster and are trying to sign Tomas Kalas from Chelsea, who was on loan with us last season, on a permanent deal. We also have Nathan Baker, Bailey Wright and Zac Vyner as backup.
Unless we are going to 3 at the back, I don't get it but was wondering if you could tell me about Willis please? Is he Championship ready? Can he play anywhere else apart from CB etc?
Thanks and good luck for the upcoming season, it would be nice to see you on a positive trajectory.

He isn't the most technically gifted defender but he has pace in abundance that allows him to get out of trouble and lets the team play a higher line. Played right back on occasion but always looked very suspect there. Going down to league two probably helped him with the physical side of his game but has never been very good in the air and is pretty poor from set pieces. I'm not sure if he's championship ready or not but this is his chance to make the step up and try. Everyone here would love to keep him but I doubt he'd be a starter in a Championship playoff chasing team. Might work on the right side of a back three, probably just a low risk low cost punt for you guys.

I like Willis. Wish he was staying, I think he can hack it at championship level. Play off chasing team might be pushing it a bit maybe, but as he’ll be free I think he’s definitely worth the gamble for you guys.

Very good defender, gutted he's leaving tbh because he's been a great loyal servant to this club when he could of left plenty of times!
Does occasionally have a mistake in him though

Hi East Ender. Pretty much agree with all of Liquid Gold's points but I'll throw my 2 cents in as well. Willis works hard and will rarely put in a half-hearted performance. As mentioned, athletically he's top draw. He's quick, he can jump and he's quite strong for his size. Injuries used to be a big problem for him during the early part of his career but that's seemed to have corrected itself somewhat - although he's still susceptible to picking up the odd niggle. In my opinion, and I've said this numerous times on this forum before, if anything lets him down it will be his height. Standing at 5"11 he's certainly not the biggest CB and as a result he's struggled at times with the physical side of the game - especially from set pieces. Whilst his athleticism has made up for that in League One and Two I can only speculate whether that will be enough to make sure it's not an issue in the Championship. If playing against physical strikers such as Vokes, McBurnie or Jutkiewicz then he'll probably be caught out. Also, he's okay on the ball but not the best, hence why he's poor at RB. (If he's positioned there, know that he'll refuse to go forward).

He'll be a cheap option for you though so it'll be fairly low risk I suspect.

I would agree with pretty much every word of that. A fair assessment.

Willis, very good defender. brings the ball out of defense. Will ping one over the top or cross field accurately. Quick, intelligent player. Needs a no nonsense guy next to him for the perfect pairing. Yes ready for Championship.

Also agree. His ball distribution is no better than okay in my opinion. Paired next to a brute he's more than good enough for the Champ.

Poor on the ball and terrible distribution, but will kick and head anything, and very quick.

I'd say upper L1 or lower Championship is his level as first choice, but would be fine as backup for a higher placed Champ team.

His distribution is very poor if you compared it to the likes of Davies.

I agree that on the ball though he's no better than okay though - primarily because I think he lacks the touch, confidence going forward or dibbling ability. This is why he hasn't succeeded at RB.

Yeah definitely lacks the confidence to bring the ball out effectively, as soon as he's put under any pressure he automatically looks to go long

He's quite quick and has a great work ethic - will do the basics for you all day long. Not the tallest so can be beaten in the air by a big forward but not great at distribution. Does tend to have injury problems, especially as a season progresses so don't be surprised if he misses games here and there. Has played RB but looks a bit dodgy to me there.

Would be sad to see him leave but neither do I believe he's completely irreplaceable. He deserves a chance to test himself at a higher level but I wouldn't say it's guaranteed he'll find it an easy transition. Good luck to him though.

This may be controversial but I am happy to let Willis leave.
He has given excellent service whilst seeing the majority of his mates move up the leagues and get the rewards that come with that.
Do I think he is championship ready...no I don't . His distribution is poor but his pace gets him out of trouble on numerous occasions.
He could however fit a championship club as a squad player and come in as and when required, something I doubt whether he would want or accept.
A move suits all sides if you ask me, thanks for the 2 Wembley finals and the screamer in the play off final, and good luck.

I would have been happy to have booted him out of the door after that pathetic team that went down without a whimper to L2.
But he stayed and somewhat redeemed himself in my eyes and will probably make it at lower Championship level. Wish him all the best and thank him for his contribution and some good (and bad) memories.

He's been a good servant to us, and I wish him well, but to be honest there aren't that many here who would lose any sleep when he goes.
I think he would sit on the bench at a championship side.

Jordan Willis is a good player. I think injuries have slowed his development. He is quick which makes him an asset.

The man captained us to our first trophy in 30 years and scored a cracker in the play off final.

Be sad to see him go, I hope he goes on to be a good player for Bristol. Good servant to the club who could have left in our relegation seasons but stayed.

My goal of the season, they say the first goal in at Wembley is the most important.

Alan Shearer would be proud of that goal.

Hmmm...I’ve heard different - that Derby have been in talks with him & that they’ve told him he’ll only be a squad player (apparently he’s thinking about it plus the lure of being on more money)

Genuinely, I'll bet that is a tough decision.

I think I would go to a lesser club with a first team place. Being in the first team boosts confidence, easier to keep match fit, profile raised. Squad player, need to keep fit, get your chance, try too hard so make errors ec.
