Opening this thread with a title like this whilst on a work call was a risk. Was expecting many different potential avenues!

I am definitely noticing more people paying attention to Coventry now. Even the odd person who has a vague idea of English football seems to be aware that we are top of the Championship and in a pretty good position to return to the PL. It is a nice feeling.

The idea that Coventry City have glory supporters has always amused me. We had people protesting and some who just didn't fancy going as much to pay to watch dire football, as well as younger generation within the city who will of course be more engaged with the club where it is now.
I find football has a nasty habit of turning people into overgrown babies, a vehicle for people of low iq to dick measure. No offence to your mate
What has happened to this club in the last few years is an incredible success story, done the right way and some people hate it for some reason. Fuck em.

I know people who support man u , Liverpool etc

Say cov are shit when we lose and don't wanna talk about lower leagues at pub etc

And when we r winning say " get in cov, always root for my home town to do well, always liked cov, went to a game last week, will get season ticket in prem" etc

To be fair, there is an incredible amount of ill informed clap trap about other clubs spouted on this forum.

True. Among ourselves though, I can't say i ever feel compelled, when someone tells me what club they support, to start waffling about their attendances and what a small club they are. Its actually nice to meet someone who doesn't support a 'big 6' club tbh.

Are you including Birmingham City in that ‘big 6’ then?

This season it's been noticeable how many people start talking to me about Coventry if I'm out with my City hoodie on or something. It's all positive, and people seem genuinely enthused to see us doing well.

My postman (A Chelsea fan so obviously loves Lampard) says he now follows all our games and is desperate for us to go up. Even today he said "I thought you were going to fall away but that Middlesbrough result was huge and now you're on fire again".

Ha, I was going to put an asterisk against them. Obviously its unpleasant to meet a Birmingham fan but im rarely in places you'll come across one. I've never met one away from their area, I don't think they move.

They have a distinctive smell that acts as a warning and usually gives me plenty of time to escape.

A fellow poster from here was talking to one at the bar in spoons at New St as we were en route Saturday.
He was saying he wants them to follow the path we've taken of incremental, season on season progress, which I thought was quite sensible for a blues supporter.
