Ince, Robins or Shaw (1 Viewer)

Both Robins and Ince have been in comparative decline in recent years from promising starts.

Robins did well at Rotherham, but that was back in 2009; after which his record at Barnsley was indifferent and he left under somewhat of a cloud. Ince did well at both Macclesfield and in his first stint at MK Dons, but did less well at Blackburn and in his second stint at MK Dons and Notts County - both of whom were comparatively well funded compared to their peers.

Money did well at Walsall with regards record and the nurturing of talent - remember - and went on to do well at Luton, who were very much a team in turmoil at the time.

As such, for me, it's Money - his recent record is good, and he's been with clubs who's profile is closely matched to ours.

That stated, I'd be happy with he security of any permanent manager, and will get behind them fully. With a run of games, we could be back in contention by Christmas, and that's got to be the focus from now on

If Shaw is on the 3 man shortlist, it will be a disgrace, Thorn got sacked after DRAWING 3 games, not LOSING 3, and it'll make a mockery of SISU's 'no longer rewarding failure' policy. I hope it's Money instead of Shaw as a 3 man shortlist of Ince*, Robins and Money would be a genuinely good choices for manager. Out of them, I'm not sure who I'd have, it would depend on interviews etc.

*Ince could be really shit or really good imo.

You've exaggerated just a tad there.

But, Robins did well at Rotherham, nearly got them promoted when they had -17 pts, had they started on 0 they may have got promoted, so he kinda did get them promoted.

For me Money is the outstanding candidate.

Good manager
Good win ratio
Worked with Coventry and Newcastle academies
Plays attacking football
Also a good scout

Money is starting to look the main candidate for me. Don't get me wrong I've nothing against the other two. I think they've all got they're good points and bad points (as mentioned on here) but the issue is we can't afford to say no to any of them as fans.

Any appointment from outside the club has to been seen as a step in the right direction. I highly doubt Shaw will get the job. Even Waggot said that Shaw is only interim boss and that he'd be running the team until the new manager was brought in.

I think this is a clear indication from the powers that be that he will not get the job. He shouldn't get the job, because it's obvious he's too friendly with the players. In order to get that respect and authority you can't have too many personal relationships with the people you manage.

Touring theatre companies do it all the time. The tour manager needs to have a little distance between their tour mates in order to have as much authority as possible. If your too pally with them then there's a good chance they won't do something you ask them to do when you need them to do it the most based on a "your my mate, surely you won't make me do that" scenario.

Shaw needs to manage a club where he's an unknown quantity, where he has no friendships so they won't question his authority when he tells them to do something. He'll get a better response from players then because they want to play 1st team football and if they behave badly in front of the new gaffe, they could find themselves looking for a new club etc as a worse case scenario.

Got to say I was gutted when I read that 3 man shortlist. If Richard Shaw is on it it had better be just to keep him sweet as he clearly isn't the man to solve our problems.

Having read through everyone's comments on here i'm starting to favour Mark Robins from the three listed in the CET.

If they've got it wrong and Richard Money is on the list in Shaw's place then my order of preference is:

1. Richard Money
2. Mark Robins
3. Paul Ince

Whoever gets it I will back them. I'm just disappointed Wise didn't make the cut.

I don't mind which of the three gets it. (I'm assuming it's Money, not Shaw in the 3) as it needed a change, and I would prefer a manager with some experience at least, and all three have that. Their past win ratios and success/failures mean nothing. This is Coventry, and past experiences prove that reputations mean nothing when people come here.

So, whoever gets it will have my backing, as did Dowie Coleman etc. and I will just hope that sometime in the future, one of our appointments will actually succeed, and hopefully it's this one.

If Shaw is appointed I will be gutted - and won't feel compelled to go back to the Ricoh anytime soon.

If we appoint one of the other candidates then I will be there and back him.

I'm sorry but after all the years of going to watch the City and coming home depressed, i'm finally at a stage where they have to convince me to go.

Anybody with a brain picks Robins out of those 3. Done an absolutely fantastic job at Rotherham and my Barnsley supporting mates were gutted to see him leave (of his own accord I hasten to add) Barnsley. People forget that Barnsley were everyones favourites for relegation when Robins took over.

Ince keeps getting sacked in his last 3 jobs for poor performances as well as falling out with his own players. Shaw isn't ready for the step up.

Robins is also a striker. We have a defender and a defensive midfielder on the coaching staff so would be nice to have that aspect that we're not very good at alongside them on the training pitch.

Money is extremely unpopular with Luton fans despite his seemingly good record. I think the fact that he is disliked so much despite winning so many games tells you all you need to know about him. Avoid.

robins for me too.... wasn't there talk of ranson wanting him as well a few years ago... what he did with Rotherham was incredible and did a very good job a Barnsley as well

Worked on small budgets. That has to suit us better than Ince who would surely be looking for much more financial backing in the transfer markets.

Was that not because he had a go at one of them though?

Andy Thorn was loved by loads of fans despite losing so many games so fan reactions don't mean anything sometimes.

Even though I would want Robins first. I wouldn't be unhappy with Money.
The Luton fans I know and have discussed Money with have said he was a good manager just some of the fans thought his tactics were a bit negative.

Keys isn't in the know one bit.

BUT

Appointing Shaw would be the biggest mistake the club could make.

To be honest I am questioning now if he is even a capable number 2.

Seems BBC with Clive are majoring on Shaw being in the mix.If this is so ,could it be an excuse when he does'nt get it to Jettison ,as so close to the grail, would be unable to work with the new incumbant ,enabling the new guy his own assistant

Don't forget Luton were effectively a league club playing in non league against a lot of part time clubs.

Robins' 43% at Rotherham is better than Money's 50ish% at Luton.
