Some questions id be interested in opinions on...
How much will we have to spend in the summer if we are promoted?
And what would it get us?
And would Lampard go in for any of his ex players? Abraham, Tarkowski, Chilwell, Harry Wilson for example

IF and not getting too far ahead, should we get into the Prem, I wouldn’t want us to spend huge amounts! The likelihood of us staying up no matter what we spend are still slim, so enjoy the ride, gain experience and keep the books healthy for a rainy day rather than piss all of our money on big wages.

I can see 3 interesting options amongst the many.

One is to barely spend a penny (in PL terms), expect to come down, and have a secure future. All those years of Sisu have scarred me, so this is probably my preferred option.

On the other hand, King could spaff £50m - £100m on the hope of staying up. Expensive risk, and we've been there before (in relative terms).

Third choice is Doug plays the game and tries to sell up and make a profit. Probably the long-term plan anyway. But if he sold to some Saudi fund, or some American egomaniac, I don't think I'd enjoy it. There's something about the struggle, about being the underdog, about trying to beat the odds that really appeals to me.

Lots of other options in amongst it, but those are the 3 that stand out to me.

Hope we spend wisely, a little bit on top of what we generate in sales. Talk of spending 100m is ludicrous. Use the PL money to secure our future long term. King will get his profit if he sells up.

As much as I would want us to stay up - assuming of course that we get there - I am in the camp of those who only want to see sensible expenditure. Let's secure the financial future of the club first, while ensuring that we have enough in the kitty to give us a good shot of promotion in the season following relegation.

I never again want to see us overspending, going into administration, suffering points deductions and sinking rapidly down the league ladder.

Just like Luton.

Fuck this noise I’ve waited quarter of a century to see us back where we belong I hope we grab it with both hands and all of Doug’s cash.

We will need circa 8-10 players would expect, should we go up - so well in excess of £100m
Which may raise eyebrows but we’re spent around £55m in transfers since 23/24 from £46m in sales.

King has said that he wants to not only get promoted, but to stay there too so there’s good enough reason to expect funds will be made available.

We had points deductions mostly because of Sisu wheezes not buying too many players.

They did spend a lot, by the standards of the day, in trying to keep us in the PL and it went horribly wrong when we were relegated. I think that's when the shenanigans started.

And we got bought out and the debt basically wiped. I honestly think people worry too much about it. At this level there’s always a buyer. As long as we aren’t signing stupid contracts like £90k/wk for the next four years just to get players through the door I wouldn’t worry too much personally. Parachutes exist for a reason and we should be able to sell most of what we buy even if for a loss.

I just think not trying to stay up is even riskier long term.
