I've closed all blinds and curtains and shut all windows after having them open all night and up until 9 this morning.

Never done it before but the experts claim its the right thing to do so

Top tips on the radio today. Including these zingers;

* Turn off your central heating if you haven’t already

* Breath slower

* Don’t think about being unable to sleep

I’m now fully prepared to face this.

Not seen ‘rub alcoholic gel all over yourself’ yet.

Left windows closed and blinds shut today, hoping I get back and it will be like a freezing cold mecca.

Nope. Got a few large portable fans we use when it gets too bad but been here so many years just got used to the heat. Work around it where possible. House is a 3 storey job so not ideal for domestic a/c.
This year is a bit of a one-off as not usually this many rain-free days which usually break up the heat cycles a bit. It'll calm down at the end of month - August should hover around the 30 C mark.
Plus with these new govt utility prices ac going to be expensive to run - seeing also sort of scary numbers being bandied about. Gas bill could be a real nightmare with a cold winter.

I took the decision on Friday to book today off, fuck sitting inside roasting and being unable to work while looking at how nice it is outside. Going to drive to a nearby lake with a couple of friends
