This database/scouts thing.

Would I be right in saying that the club it self had nothing set up (as alluded to by TM, good work SISU by the way. Although to be fair it's probably the council evening telegraph's fault) so SP set up one and paid for it out of his own pocket presumably because its was the only way it was going to get funded (think I read that somewhere or word's to that effect that SP was paying for it, again well done SISU although again I'm sure it's the council evening telegraphs fault again)?

Don't know If I've read that anywhere tony,, But It's a thought I've had
Seems plausible and would explain the position
Hasn't Waggot now been quoted as setting something up
That kind of suggests the previous set up wasn't the clubs

Theft was what others had said not me (maybe they got that from the 'it belongs to the club' part which doesn't seem too massive of a leap), but there was an implication from Mowbray that Pressley had taken it with him when he left.

Because the meeting which has taken place between RBC & CCFC was very recent, on an undisclosed date in March therefore probably after the last SCG meeting on 5th March but definitely after the last FOI responses from RBC sometime after Jan 21st .

It's possible but I doubt Pressley was bankrolling it himself, poor league 1 managers at Coventry can't be on that much that he had his own personal team working for him. It was probably set up solely off Pressleys own doing but then funded by the club. It can't have been that much, at a guess the chief scout was probably on a salaried wage by the club whilst the other scouts were probably just having travel expenses and tickets cost covered. Then the club probably either sacked them along with Pressley, or maybe they even resigned after he was sacked. All guesswork and speculation by me though.

Question, was there a player database at all, if there was then was it the personal property of Steven Pressely?

And whilst so many are disagreeing on such a subject a more important meeting between SISU and RBC has come out that could lead to the end of our club as we know it if the wrong decision is made. We could end up with a home stadium near Rugby.

Or is this why Grendel is putting so much effort getting most to talk about a headline to a story?

Nonsense, the FL will only allow the establishment of a ground within an 8 mile radius of the centre of Coventry, ie the Council House, that is their policy.

The FOI was well before the very recent questions posed to RBC from Fisher and Co. But what it does is stops us asking RBC and getting a no answer although RBC also said that nothing was agreed IIRC.

We have already found out that what the FL rules say and how the FL interpret them are two totally different things.

If he didn't take it with him physically, what is to stop him from taking it with him in memory (except perhaps his lack of memory)? Could we really have had so many potential players in that database that he could not remember them? And even if he could only remember the names, a quick Google search would give him all the extra information he would need. Not that the database would be of much use to him anyway.

I would say that would depend on (1) If it was covered in the employment contract (2) who paid for the database to be compiled (3) on whose computer it was developed and stored and (4) on whose time the database was developed. If Pressley paid the scouts out of his own pocket, did the work on his own time and kept the database on his own personal computer, he would have a good case that it belonged to him.

That's can't be true Jan, it hasn't been splashed all over the CT. Maybe they only report the bad news

Very odd it wasn't reported - surely that is important news the fans wanted to hear about?

But Pressley said he had improved the scouting system, Mowbrey found there wasn't one and no data base. Some on here started calling SP a liar.

my point has been over several posts, if he set up his own scouting network through contacts outside of the club framework then the database is his not the clubs.

People have been quick to to take TM's observations as critical of SP, as it is not normal practice or how clubs are normally structured. That maybe the case, but how often do we find SISU don't do things the normal way. Perhaps SP improvised to get round a problem of not having an adequate scouting network. I think TM's comments actually criticise the way the club is structured as much as it does any individual. As I have said before, the way the club is structured is more the role of TF and SW than any manager, otherwise you won't achieve an continuity if you let managers have a free hand.

So they haven't updated any news on the website? There wasn't a Friday or Saturday edition?

Simon couldn't have posted a link on here?

I expected better from you.

Sorry to crush any half baked conspiracy bollox but Mr Ward has only just sent out the notes from the board meeting to rest of SCG - sure Simon and the gang at the CT will pick them up once they are published and interpret them as they see fit as no doubt will their colleague at the Observer

That won't stop the conspiracy theories. The whole Trinity Mirror group are involved in a major conspiracy, not just the Telegraph. Apparently the pasting table is major national news and such stories are designed to destabilise the club and demoralise the fans...

Why would they need the notes from the SCG? I doubt the original story was sourced from within the club or the SCG so shouldn't they have gone back to the same source for an update seeing as it was a time sensitive issue?

So the local journalists investigative journalism is effectively reading notes from the SCG? Really? So did the original story come from there?

Christ - it's hardly Bernstein and Woodward is it?

As long as they are in the SCG minutes of course.

They posted one today, sore losers by the looks of it. Not sure how though as it is the weekend.

Make the most of these threads, no doubt the match thread tomorrow will be nowhere near as busy Everybody will be busy with tax returns and other stuff like counting sheep to post about the match.

No, they seem to be too busy posting other positive stories. Latest is that TM is planning for the future on a relaid pitch and trying to keep 3 good loan players on a season long deal. Hardly demoralising or destabilising. Their evil Plan seems to be faltering.

...curse you trinity mirror group. If it wasn't for you're pesky newspapers holding SISU back we'd be playing in the premier league in front and a packed house, done the double over both Leicester and Villa and pushing for a European qualification spot, we'd probably have won FA cup this season too instead you demoralised and unsettled our club deliberately so we'd get knocked out by a non league club, grrrr. Shakes fist in anger.
