We’ve hit the woodwork plenty of times this season. Think Thomas 2-3 himself

Although I don’t want to be a downer or sound too critical, I’m still a little unconvinced by Simms’ shooting technique. His shots seem to lack power although they may be on target. His goals vs QPR were at such close range that they were unstoppable. I thought his effort against the bar vs Huddersfield was good and want to see him rifle shots with power vs try to place them or pass them into the goal. Anyway, I’ll take a goal any which way at this point. Same for the rest of the team.

In a Martin Samual article about Tonali at Newcastle

‘It has not been the easiest start for the player. His first game got off to a flyer with a goal on his league debut after six minutes, but since then, like many foreign acquisitions, he has found it tough adapting to the ferocity of the English game. So while losing Tonali is a blow — injuries are making Eddie Howe’s squad look thin — the opportunity to spend the best part of a year acclimatising to English conditions may prove useful.’

This is 60m player, yet we expect Wright, MVE etc to be settled and pulling up trees after three months and a dozen games in the country

I’m unconvinced by most of his touches of the ball tbh, seems to struggle to get and keep it under control and his shooting action takes so long that most of them are telegraphed.

Especially interesting as Robins appears to have alluded to this himself - about a player who is probably Wright - during an interview.

I think Wright switches off for long periods when the ball isn't near him. He's happy to stand marking an opposition player on the edge of the their box when the opposition are launching a sudden attack. He doesn't seem to understand the basics about finding space or working hard off the ball.

Agree, when were looking to go forward and need an option he's just stood flat footed never looks to bend a run or look for space, always wants it to feet, when he does run into space hes offside. Frustrating

Thought Wright was better tonight but he should have scored two and that’s what he will be judged on.

Reminds me of the hype and consequent disappointment of a one Freddy Eastwood

Current international, million pound player etc, hyped up and falling flat on his arse

How he missed that goal I'll never know

Complete waste of money, must be losing value every game. Terrible work rate, terrible touch and minimal confidence.

He doesn’t seem bothered or angry… nothing. He doesn’t utter a word. Did we do any research on the characters of these players?

I just can't work out how whatever method we use to price players we came out with nearly £8m.

He looks like a raw player from non-league we've taken a punt on. Discipline for offsides, composure in shooting, concentration. None of it says top professional.

He really is absolutely dreadful. Let’s just pray that Fenerbache genuinely are interested and he doesn’t put them off before January.

I looked at his Wikipedia info and wondered why on earth we wanted him at all, let alone paying millions.

Just can't work him out. You can see there is something there but as if he's not played for years. Like most of his chances missed and offsides are something you'd pass off in a legends/charity game. I really hope he does come good, also agree he should have time to adjust to the league.. but most of his faults I've seen so far are just basics to being a footballer.

This guy was the difference tonight. If we had someone who had decent positional awareness and a semblance of an ability to put the ball on target we could've got something from the game. He's just not very good unfortunately.

At least we got our money back with our last record signing (Bellamy) but can you see anyone coming in for Haji Wright?

He must burn less calories and run less miles per game then any other outfield player.

His best moment of the game was when it took him about 30 seconds to realise he was being subbed off because he was too busy staring at the ground.

This system appears to suit him better than two up top, but there’s no denying he was miles off it tonight
