I am starting to wonder whether he’s just sulking about his status in the squad and looking for a move.

His drop off in form feels like it coincided with the rumours around Bamford training with us. It was claimed that Frank wanted Bamford (but Doug said no). Then it was claimed that we were planning to “go for it” in January (implying we were after another striker).

So, perhaps he thinks / knows Frank doesn’t truly have confidence in him as the main striker. So, in response, he’s told the club he wants off; they’ve said they’ll entertain offers, but only if other teams meet our valuation - and until then he’s still our player and needs to show his value to the team - his hearts not in it, hence the apparent lack of interest / effort.

Hence the new agent - who is trying to drum up interest through media stories that highlight that he might be available (i.e. “West Ham: £200m” 😂). In reality though, no one has actually come in for him, so we’re stuck with a sulky striker, who is desperately waiting for a move.

Of course, this is all entirely speculative!

Either way, I think he should be on the bench next week.

Bamford was never coming in as the starting striker though was he

We’ll never know - you’d assume not, but maybe Frank and the team have decided neither Wright or Simms are quite good enough - so Bamford was being brought in to bolster the forward line on an interim basis.

Doug said no, we’ve got ~£12m of striking talent in the squad already, get them firing etc. Hence Frank saying no more forwards unless someone goes out…

I suspect it was because Frank really didn't rate Simms (see: not playing him tail end of last season) so he wanted a better backup, given BTA was scoring regularly from other positions.

I really don't think Bamford was being eyed to replace Wright - at that point Wright was one of the top scorers in the league and had started really well.

Thing is, all that's changed with Wright is he's not scoring his chances. He always looks a bit languid, but when he's scoring people don't care. Whenever he goes through a dry patch people expect him to completely change his game and become this all round centre forward, which he isn't.

People won't like this but his worst performances for us have generally come playing as a striker
Hes not a winger , hes played as a centre forward im all but 1 and a half seasons in his career

Strikers tend to have less touches than wingers , and are generally less involved on the whole and its why fans have had issues with strikers many times here over the years , simms , godden , mcnulty , stern john , leon best , wright because often games can pass them by

sometimes wed like them to link play more but the game has changed alot , generally we like them to work hard now

If you arent scoring as a striker people pointlessly say things like " its like playing with 10 men " truth is all strikers have spells where they dont score , its why you dont see many strikers scoring 46 goals a season

Vik was lauded because he had everything

He actually hasn’t, statistically. In Turkey, he played as a Left Forward, and has generally played that position throughout his career and done well.

This was banded around when he first came, and Robins was forcing him into a centre forward position. He struggled.

A winger and a left forward are, oddly, quite different.

10 million anyone interested? Still turn 3 million profit

Once we go up we’ll likely have paid £9.9m for him

His stats show hes played centre forward the most ? Unless im missing something , hes played 58 games from the left

Besides , hes scored 25 goals in 46 games as a centre forward for us since hes been here

Thats including the drought

There are posts on twitter of villa fans screaming for ollie watkins to be fucked off when he only scored 1 goal in 13 to start the season .

If haji starts scoring again fans will be on his side again no doubt

Kitching looks a yard too slow for me, (especially without the pace of JDS and MvE in the back 4) so an upgrade would be useful.

You can definitely see why FL wanted to bring in Charlie Hughes from Hull. But its hard to judge the defence with 3 changes being made and a keeper in who hasn't played for months.
Isn’t Charlie Hughes a right sided centre back the same as Thomas ? He would replace Thomas not kitching

He is right footed, but I dont think that would make much difference, weve had right footed players on the left side of the 2 CH's before, and id sooner have a quick right footer than a slow left footer.

Got lambasted here the other day for trying to suggest we don’t need other big clubs kids on the wings to mount/ maintain a realistic title challenge…….
We need a striker badly because Haji looks completely lost and Simms blows hot and cold !

Simms has scored 8 in 10 starts. Show me another Champ striker on those stats?
Simms has the best stats in the Championship per minutes just look on Fotmob he's first in 4 different attacking stats and second in another. He could be so much better though and I think if Lampard stuck with him instead of starting Haji then bringing him on which surely effects him psychologically then he'd bang the goals in. I was critical on this thread created for Haji on fans slagging him off but after today another lazy and disinterested performance I agree he's shite and needs selling because he's offered nothing for months now. I think his last goal was in October against Sheffield Wednesday which is pathetic. It's his overall performances and I'm sick to death of him.

Got to trust the Manager/Coaches to know what is going on with Haji on & off pitch and his ability or not to do a job for us.

Lots of guesswork on here & we know all too well how wrong, as a collective, we have been in the past on the goings on at Cov City.

Simms was fucking wank last season and Haji has been fucking wank for 3 months now of this season. People have to stop doubling down on the one they've decided they prefer and just accept it for what it is. Will Haji come good again? I really hope so, but Simms should be starting right now really. Truth is both are very streaky.

Performances next week after a full week of prep will say a lot about certain players.

We need to be ready. Lesta still have really good individuals capable of turning it on and unfortunately I expect them to for this one.
I don’t necessarily mind disinterest in a meaningless cup tie but it was bad enough saving that prick Davies’ job at Birmingham without adding Cifuentes to the list.

I do hope Haji turns it around, I’d love to see nothing more than Haji score plenty of goals between now and the end of the season, and get us up to the PL.

Would be happy to be proven wrong about Haji as that surely would only benefit CCFC.

We haven't given him supply for 3 months.. it's just not good enough

That's just not true. He has had a lot of chances, shots, touches in the area over those 3 months. And aside from that he had opportunities to just generally bring something to the team in the role.

The xG table is interesting
Haji's xG is 10.1 he has 8
Armstrong 13.8 and he has 11

Haji isn't out of step with the other top players at all and it does tend to support the argument that we are not creating very much (which is actually pretty obvious really.) Clearly he should have had two or three pens (at least) on top of that recently...
