Unfortunately, I could see him ending up at Leicester, especially now that Vardy is coming to the end of his career.

Yeah, this is what I’m concerned about with him entering final year of his contract and why we need a few clubs interested.

King wants prem football and will of worked out with MR the plan to reach that goal. Keeping or selling the likes of Vik, Hamer or Sheaf will be talked about and valuations put on each with replacing them part of the conversation.

Selling Vik sounds obvious come summer if he hasn't extended. But im not sure its a cert the fee excepted will have to be enough to enable MR to replace and add. If the potential fee doesn't do that could it be a calculated gamble to keep Vik and add.

Sounds unlikely but im sure that option is still on the table along with all others. Summer is going to be a busy one no matter what with players, ground, training facility, new kits and more coming from King himself on plans for the club. All this with Ashley hovering overhead, never a dull moment being a fan of this club.

That’s similar to the Bereton-Diaz situation, no?

Hate to say it but this is where having a Mike Ashley type owner who could afford to say “Alright Viktor, we will match the £5m as a signing on fee and the wages. Here’s clause about injuries and insurance.”

That way, it’ll cost us £5m plus £6m in wages to keep him but we’ll have a player that (if fit and in form) is worth a lot more.

This all echoes the original SISU panic when Westwood didn’t sign a new contract. They realised that an asset they valued at (say) £3m was actually worth FA. They then panicked and sold anyone under contract worth a bean (Best) and put numpties like Bell on long contracts. The rest is tragic history.

As I said months ago (and got at), we need to get Vik tied down with a hefty contract.

I would be amazed if he signed a new one; it gives him less leverage in the summer and he’ll be wanting to move on if offered the chance.

Exactly like that situation - and now Blackburn are scrambling around to get him to sign a new deal which he isn’t.

we’re not in any strong position here, which some of our fans think we are. We’re not a rich club and need to sell players to keep us going. Letting Gyokeres run his contract down isn’t going to happen - with that in mind his value is dropping drastically.

we’re in the same position with Hamer and O’Hare - in fact their values are probably not that high anymore

Think it all depends how many are after him. Remember, if a club wants him, but won't pay the asking price, they run the risk of getting gazumped, Confident we'll get at least £10m (which we'll need, as we need 3 new strikers in all probability)

West Ham are talking over a 100m for Rice and his contract finishes the same time as Viks, so we should be asking 35m at least., prem teams dont wait if they want someone enough.

Dont under value our players, he is the best forward to leave the championship ever, that means he should go for over 30m even if he only has 12 months left on contract, talk of 10m is laughable. may be that figure with only 6 months left in Jan 2024.

Lol if it gets to Jan 1st his value becomes 0 on the basis he can sign pre contract agreements abroad.

if it was last summer - we could ask 30m, now it depends how much we need the money it’ll be much closer to 10m than 30 in his final year. Just look at Brereton Diaz

Why are we so negative on this?

You're a manager, offered £gazillions to spunk. You have a choice of spunking it on the players you want to lead you to success and boost your own reputation, or waiting a year for them to be out of contract, by which stage you may well be sacked.

What would you do if you wanted said player, and other clubs did too?!?

Well, it seems provident for the club to allow him to leave, given the contract situation and if a decent bid comes in - £15-18 million would be sensible, and anything less than £15m would be scandalous in my opinion.

Then it beggars the question…who the heck will replace him? For me, it’ll be nigh on impossible to find a like for like replacement, who brings the energy, aggression and goals to the team, as Vik does.

Most would not be shocked if that is the outcome. But i don't think we know enough about King yet, id wait and see before we say our Vik goodbye. As he still is under contract so unless he e downs tools King and MR have a decision to make.

Of course he might have done an ACL before the end of the season. Nothing is certain in football.

Selling in the summer (if he continues his form and development) at the momement seems the sensible option.

However there is a possibility him and his agent could sit it all out and he goes for free. I go back to nothing is certain in football.

The only thing that is certain, is the situation in football is fluid and it changes week by week. All those scouts are monitoring, also monitoring lots of other players, monitoring or scouting is not writing cheques.

It's laughable how many people think we can just cash in on him at the end of the season, it's as if he doesn't have a say in the matter.

He can just decide that he's not signing for anyone, regardless of if the club accept an offer.

If he sits tight for another season, then he walks away on a free transfer, and bags himself a huge wage and signing on fee.
