I still haven't forgiven the council for turning down Foo Fighters.

£2 entry this year

Think this is the worst of both worlds. Charging loses the USP of the event as the largest free festival in Europe. But they aren't charging enough to allow them to improve the bands they're booking.

I really hope they've looked into this in greater detail than going we were £300K short last year and 120K attend so lets charge them all £2.

I have no problem at a with the £2 entry fee, but do think £10 to park is a bit steep.

There's not in Finham and Stivichall though. Bad enough already when its on and zero effort from the council to do anything about people who have parked blocking driveways and entrances. Charging people £10 to park will just make it once unless they bring in temporary restrictions.

I have no issue with £2 but it seems a little pointless as a sum and that's a lot of admin! I get the numbers issue as how can you plan an event without knowing how many people are going to walk through the doors but I think this will start the increased charges in a few years. I think its at a point where it needs a plan on what type of event it actually wants to be, personally its about the day out in the sunshine (usually) rather than who is actually on but if it started charging higher prices I would certainly pick and choose. I assume it would be a ticket for the entire weekend and not £2 per day??

Any early shouts for next years headliner?

Going with the mainstream indie / rock band theme that seems to be the criteria for Saturday headliners I'd love to see the Manics there but they are probably too big. More realistically Feeder or Ash would suit me.

Good to see the organisers were paying attention! Feeder headlining the Saturday.

Their first couple of albums in particular were very good. It's frightening for me to think that's the best part of 20 years ago now! My claim to fame is I met them once and they were really nice guys.

Sugarhill Gang, Melle Mel and Scorpio? I almost forgive the council for all the football nonsense seeing that. (But not for the recycling bins fiasco of Christmas, NEVER forgive)

Yeah and we do already have a band from Wales in Feeder.

They could change their name to Bottom Feeder for this and then do a version of the B52's Rock Lobster.

Said it for years that they should be charging something like this and get some decent bands instead of yesterday’s washed up acts. Besides, it would stop the likes of Jak Hickman and the like attending.

Slightly unfair on the washed up acts. There are also, always up and coming acts and many have gone on to much bigger things.

The whole thing about the Godiva is the festival for all feel, which I'm afraid involves booking "washed up has beens" for us oldies to watch, aswell as up and coming acts for the young uns, keep it free or as near as for me. Plenty of festivals with mega acts out there to relieve people of their cash.

Even the big festivals are struggling for big name acts with a decent back catalogue as headliners.
Record companies used to have long term plans for bands and develop them over a number of years.
With the advent of streaming and disposable talent show winners it's not happening too much now.

Jeez! They missed a trick there. Don’t live in Cov so that’s why I wouldn’t have really heard about it.
