The weather rate per 1000 of the population 2010 (when austerity began) to 2018 is actually generally lower than the 10yrs prior to austerity from what I found.

Wouldn't actually knock them for seeking a way to make it work personally as I think in an ideal world, the wealth health gap between rich & poor would be much better balanced & society overall would benefit. The "how?" is the biggest problem imo.

You do see this goes both ways at both ends of the spectrum right? The belief that deregulation and tax giveaways on steroids will lead to prosperity has been debunked with disastrous consequences on each occasion it has been implemented. Most of us would agree that a balance of socialism and capitalism is the way to achieve a rounded society. The difficulty comes in where to draw the line between the state and the free market. Again I think most would agree that education and healthcare should be free at the point of use but for instance they wouldn't want state run fast food companies.
It just confuses me sometimes that people can see the benefit of more egalitarian policies but think they're too difficult to achieve so vote for the opposite.
Yes I see it from both ends...but Tory policies are not as far right to make them so unrealistic to implement as the Labour left policies are...especially in relation to the current state of play imo.
I mean...I see the benefit to me of a 4 day week. Especially if I get paid the same annual salary. Otherwise, it isn't going to work for me...just one example

Why is JOB smug? A very clever chap and critical of all parties but he quite rightly focuses on the Tories most as they are in power. A very talented jounalist/presenter harsh but true and not many of them about holding people to account for their comments and opinions. Farage was destroyed by him. His criticism of Corbyn was bang on too. Boris wouldn't go near an interview with him in a month of Sundays. I can't think of another jouno who is as insightful of him. Are you suggesting 20k fewer police and hospitals failing left right and centre has not affected number of deaths? I saw it with my own eyes in Cov hospital with my old man passing away in a corridor lined up with a dozen others in 2017, with only one overstretched doctor in sight. I am confused as to how you can actually specifically claim that someone died specifically because of austerity...especially when the actual death rate is little different over the time period austerity has been in place from when it wasn't! In fact it is a tad lower.
As for the disabled, I'm not sure why you raise it? Is it relevant to the discussion?
For the record though it doesn't matter what scenario you paint, There are always cases where people suffer as a result of checks & criteria, which is very sad, but the system usually finds a way to get around it's own rules where genuinely needed.
Of course some would suggest a system where we just don't have rules & let everyone & anyone take however much they want from the country's coffers whenever they wish.
