The way I see it is the FA panel will decide if there was a deliberate stamp which is a sending off. I’ve watched it a couple of times and in my opinion it was a tread on the leg while running back at worst a yellow card if the ref deemed it could have been avoided. Should the worse come to the worse it will be a blow but we have plenty of ample cover in Willis and McDonald.

Why does it matter if it’s on live TV or not. If it’s against the rules it’s against the rules and should go punished.
All games are recorded by both sides, so almost every incident will be caught on camera.

Because it supplies evidence. And commentators analyse it and they probably have more than one angle.

He meant it . Everyone knows he did but some are wearing skyblue tinted glasses , might end up costing us the 2nd leg , as Davies is so good in the air and Notts county just love playing long ball. I like Willis don’t get me wrong but in the air he’s just not as good.

Yes I do. I think our fans are up themselves on this forum and any other club would consider us a laughing stock.

We’ve spent ages talking about some fat bloke from Lincoln as if he’s some exponent of dirty tactics when reality is he’s utter shite and we are the only club he’s bothered in four months.

We bleat on about a carthorse like Ameobi whose about as threatening as a paper bag

We are portraying ourselves as footballing masters against some maligned forces and the referee union has entered some covern to conspire against us.

It’s pathetic. If we are good enough we win - if not we don’t.

We aren’t good enough to finish higher than the team we are playing as we’ve been worse over 46 games

It’s really embarrassing

I thought their players just didn't get caught because the game wasn't live on TV.

We need to learn to cheat when we are not on Sky only.

Notts county are good at getting with getting away with the dirty stuff in the game they are at it all the time whereas Davies does it once and gets caught. We aren't a dirty team apart from Doyle we are a team of pussy cats

Which is the point - as I said he was an idiot to do it in a game he’d get caught in. Do it all he likes if he gets away with it otherwise

What's that got to do with it? The rules state excessive and dangerous. Deliberately running over a player prone on the floor and putting your studs into the players leg; is excessive because it is avoidable. It is obviously dangerous.

One of their players had Davies in the second half, proper hurt him as he was limping and grimacing for a good while.
I'm sure that it was at one of their corners.
Is he complaining..?
Stead had Kelly several times in the first half, all with no action from the dickhead ref or blind lino's..is any action being taken retrospectively against that streak of piss?
It's a mans game, Duffy probably nailed Davies at that corner and called it quits, nothing to see here.

Can people really not see the difference between a bit of pushing and shoving, shirt pulling, bending the rules etc and stamping on someone lying on the ground?

Notts County are very good at what they do, it's not nice to watch and it borders on cheating at times, but at no point during the game did any of their players do anything as bad as Davies did. He could have been sent off twice for off the ball incidents.

Davies was naive, has hurt our chances and still he is being defended. It was a cynical act.
Now it's up to the players available to take us to Wembley and Davies to reflect on his moment of stupidity.

Defended too by Grendel apparently, as long as it's within a non-televised game.

He appeals and loses and he will miss Wembley.

Thing in his favour is that he said it was an accident and Duffy accepted that.

Definitely should form his defence.

It does look to me as if he maybe meant it, but I don't think it is clear cut.

Got a fair chance of winning an appeal.

Bollox - if we lose the 2nd leg it will have fuck all to do with Davies being banned. Enough quality to step in. Just need to score goals!

We started Saturday's game with our 3rd and 4th choice centre backs from the start of the season. I don't think this is as big a deal as people are making out if Robins adapts to it. We need to score more than Notts County and we should start by not deploying a defensive striker, giving Kelly more freedom than he was allowed on Saturday and pushing the defence higher up the pitch so that if Stead (or Ameobi) are winning more knock downs without Davies there, they are not in such dangerous positions. Willis' athleticism should suit that too if they do try and get in behind us. We have plenty in this team to beat Notts County with if we get the tactics right.

I would have said not.

There was a theme at Notts County by their players however and it was throughout the game, so that sounds to me more like a plan.

Any manager who tells their players to go out and stamp or tread on people shouldn't be in the game.

It's why my managerial career got cut short.

Apparently the tactic of "find their best player and absolutely hammer him every time the ref isnt looking" doesnt go down too well.

True.

We have constantly been saying for years (managers included) that we are too soft and too nice. That tells you that other clubs are bending the rules and we haven't been.

I fully understand why we have to come down to their level, but I would much, much rather the authorities did something about it and clamped down so no-one at all gets away with it.

We have had to toughen up and get a bit nastier as a club.

Doesn't make it right though.

No but it is just our luck the moment we try it we get caught and punished for it.

It is fine if there is consistency but you can guarantee there won't be any at all. It only seems it has been raised because it was on Sky Sports, which means if something happens in other games it's perfectly fine. It's trial by Pundit rather than what has actually happened.

There has been a few this season, Doyle was punched in the back of the head against Cheltenham at home off the ball, the Ameobi one as well is a good one. Also Doyle biting their player against Swindon.

Other clubs will bend and play at the limit of the rules as well as using every trick possible to get an advantage.

FWIW, the Cov Telegraph vote has over 1000 voters on whether the stamp was a red card offence or not, and it's currently 54% yes, 46% no. The disciplinary panel of 3 refs has to be unanimous that it was a red card offence, so despite the bias I'm sure some fans have shown in the voting, maybe it won't be a clear cut decision.
