Well, I didn't expect anyone other than Max to be fastest, Max was so far ahead of everyone earlier it was like he was driving a different circuit to anyone else.

Great lap from Lewis that

Something about Lewis and Silverstone that just goes together.

Interesting to see how the sprint goes. I think max will happily sit behind lewis. Only 1 point difference.

Plus red bull always better on the medium tyre than Mercedes

Just a shame that doesn't set the grid for the proper race. Really hope this sprint race malarkey isn't as dull as most of the brains at the teams say it's likely to be....

That was class tbf, the cheers. Wish I went, but as my mate just said to me, I'd have missed the lot in the beer tent.

George Russell is such a star. Can't wait to see him in a competitive car.

Would love to be there.

Haven't been since 2012 . Fantastic atmosphere, day, noise everything.

Lewis v Max is going to go the whole way isnt it?

Its fantastic mate honestly.

Full the full experience General admission for the Friday to Sunday, camp Thursday to Monday. Never done it myself but that seems to be the general consensus from race fans (im sad I'm on an F1 Forum also).

When i went it was just race day, but you get the support races, live bands, loads of events and activites, you wouldnt think you were in Northamptonshire, a very carnival feel to the whole thing. Would recommend to tick off the bucket list

The noise for Russel was amazing on pit straight. Everyone was out of their seat when he crossed the line.

He must be very close to the Merc 2nd seat now.

Feel like tomorrow will be an odd day. With the most pointless FP2 and then the sprint race. Will be amazing or crap with no in-between.

Already a few drivers saying it’s not worth the risk of going for it and will try to hold their position. Could end up being a procession.

Only been to three Grands Prix, none of them Silverstone - it was actually cheaper to go on holiday to Hungary and take in a race than buy tickets for Silverstone, mind you!

Happened to pick decent ones mind you:

Spa, 1991(?) Schumacher's first race... although he'd broken down before he got to where we were standing!

Hungary, 1992(?) - Mansell won the world title there.

Donington, 1993(?) Very wet indeed. Senna, but also Barrichello.

It's the cost that's put me off since, so stuck to cheaper things like Touring Cars (Silverstone was very wet November(?) 2019!), classic stuff like Goodwood (yeah, cost there too!) and Silverstone Classic - and back in the day Formula Renault would give you a free ticket in exchange for plaguing you with adverts for their cars. Some half decent drivers came through that series, though.

If F1 is the same as motogp then prices are now the same at most grand prix. In 1996 we rode to Brno to watch the bikes and we paid around £4 for the weekend 3 weeks after Donington charged £30 for the sunday. When we looked at going in 2019 the prices were all around the same and sold through motogp website. Going to Brno in 1996 meant I missed our opening day loss to Forest. I actually prefer going abroad to watch the motogp's, makes it a holiday and will hopefully be back at Assen next year.

Been to a few Grand Prix's. Always an amazing atmosphere, even if some of the races don't live up to it.

great experience in Indianapolis in 2001. It was 3 weeks after 9-11, and me and my mate had already got tickets for the race, flights booked etc. In those 3 weeks, we found Companies we dealt with had hospitality tickets for the race that they couldnt get rid of, as nobody wanted to travel, so gave them to us.

We ended up with Hotel paid for, limo from the airport, limo to the track each day with police motorcycle escorts (doing tricks on their bikes) Hospitality suite on start straight, seats in grandstand, free drinks & food, evening meal the night before the race with guest speaker Martin Whitmarsh (he was team leader of McLaren).

It was enjoyable for us, albeit due to a terrible tragedy. Hard not to enjoy it even under those circumstances. We spoke to lots of Yanks over the course of the week-end, and oddly, the tragedy was hardly mentioned. It was just the usual, "hey, are you Brits? I have a friend in London, maybe you know him..." Although one family turned to talk to us in the stands, and told us how they loved British beer, opened their cooler box and it was full of it!! they shared it with us, and we nicked some wine from the hospitality suite for them

Just drives into his teammate.

How he even has that drive is just embarrassing.

Last half died off and Alonso getting that good start made it a bit tasty but I’m not convinced.

Really enjoyed it. Maybe 10 lap shootout would’ve been better with people taking even more risks.

Not as bad as feared, still not sure I'm fully behind the idea but I'll see how the other trials go and give it a fair chance.

More inconsistent penalties from the stewards. Really feel for George.

Don't get that. I thought they were supposed to show a bit of leniency on the opening lap of a race? It's not like Sainz was unable to continue.

Think I read elsewhere they also gave him a penalty point on his licence, which iis absolutely absurd if that's the case. Think they need to rework how they award them.

Some of the penalties recently have been stupid. Let them race FFS.

If they're going to do something like this they need to shake the grid up a bit so the faster cars/drivers end up behind slower ones - like the reverse grid in F2.

Spotted 4-5 cov shirts at silverstone last few days. Was actually the most of anyone team !

sprint race yesterday was ok. Wasn’t enough excitement for it track side. Was good to see a little bit of racing. But felt like DRS train at times.

Looking forward to the race today. But back at home. Gona be some very pink people on Monday judging by the last few days.

While I'm not totally averse to it I do think it would be potentially dangerous at the start as faster cars approach the first corner behind slower ones.

Not totally convinced by the sprint race and I like the idea of giving each driver a clear track to do ONE qualifying lap. If they get it wrong, tough. Would throw up the occasional surprise. I'd have them do the laps in reverse championship order. Could give advantage to the faster drivers as rubber is laid down but also at mercy of weather conditions etc.
