So Robins now has the full support of Sisu and Fisher? Hmm not convinced...but you never know.

MARK Robins said he left Coventry City after failing to get assurances from Sisu.

The new Huddersfield manager described his decision to walk out on the Sky Blues five months into a three-year contract as the toughest of his career.

Robins, 43, had transformed City’s season after being installed as Andy Thorn’s successor in September, steering them from a potential relegation battle in npower League One to the fringes of the play-offs.

But Huddersfield, who sacked Simon Grayson three weeks ago after going 12 games without a win, were granted permission to approach Robins on Tuesday after Coventry had rejected an initial approach.

“It was a considered decision,” said Robins, who alluded to the current rent dispute between the club and Arena Coventry Ltd – the owners of the Ricoh Arena.

“I spoke to the owner, I sought assurances and didn’t get any assurances from the owner of Coventry,” he said as he was unveiled today as the Terrier’s fifth manager in as many years.

“I absolutely wish them all the best, they work their socks off and as I’ve said before that club needs support from Coventry City Council.

“That led to a decision to want to speak with Huddersfield and that’s how the decision has been arrived at.”

When pressed about the nature of the assurances he wanted from Coventry, Robins added: “I won’t go into specific detail.

“There are well-documented things about what’s happening down at Coventry. It is a magnificent club. Potentially huge.

“But it needs support to build revenue streams and help from the council.” Robins added: “It’s been the most difficult professional decision I’ve ever had to make, but I feel it’s absolutely the right decision.”

Am I the only one completely confused by this? One of the main drivers for him leaving was the off field issues, which have only worsened since he left.

What am I missing?

Personally though I'd take him back, especially compared to the others in the betting....

The club went into administration that season whereas that danger isn't imminent now and Robins crucially doesn't have another job to go to (I.e. the real reason he left)

Will he stay long enough to fall on his sword this time? If not I wouldn't expect to see him here as long as last time. The velocity of our decline has increased rapidly and still increasing since he was last here.

I wish him all the best if he is coming though.

If it is Robins, have SISU made some promises to him for next season? I am a big Robins fan and would welcome him back but given SISU's track record, it is likely this will end in tears.

He's been pretty poor since leaving us and his last job at Scunthorpe he got sacked over a year ago towards the bottom of L1.

Might be tempted by a Wembley trip.

To look on the bright side maybe there are changes happening in the ownership associated with this managerial change. I don't have any inside info that this is the case but anyone running a business that they want shot of will know there is a best/least bad time to dispose of it.
My guess is if anything is afoot it will happen ahead of Wembley
Things were spiralling out of control which was obvious to everyone including the owners
RS did himself no favours but on a human level you have to feel sorry for the poor bugger. He may have known ahead of the game yesterday as he went to the travelling fans afterwards to say thanks and didn't come back on the team bus

If it's from Les 'Breaking Exclusive' Reid it must be true!
The club are clearly feeding Reid and the Observer information so for them to be reporting it I suspect it must be true.

Very surprising appointment to say the least given what he said when he left.

I was gutted when robins left. At the right club he would do a decent job with funding etc. No pussy footing around and a good eye for a player. But we have Fisher who is an utter disgrace and would see it becoming right on the pitch and f**k it right up. How this *%# sleeps at night only god knows. Spiteful ******* ....?

If true we would have a decent chance next season of coming back up with robins.
