To be fair to the lad he's had a few good seasons scoring goals at club level, he never looked like scoring or indeed contributing to tonights debacle but he managed to grab a brace, he is never in a million years an inspirational captain, when he was wrestled to the ground he should have been all over the ref complaining but he never looked like he said anything, I was shouting more than him

Debacle ?!! God knows what you thought of our other recent tournaments !

I thought we were excellent first half apart from our finishing and second half we completely dominated, but did huff and puff a bit.

Overall it was a job well done in the end.

To be fair, if Kane hadn't scored tonight he would have had no other contribution to the game, he looked knackered..is he fit? We have the most useless inept squad, I would love them to prove me wrong but it aint gonna happen...Ali and Sterling tonight were a fucking disgrace...I feel bloody angry...off for a lie down to chill

Go and have a lie down, you're talking rubbish. This is the world cup. Algeria are no minnows. England should have won comfortably, and were untroubled apart from conceding a needless penalty

No place for sterling in this system , needs to play out wide in a 4-3-3

But I prefer 3 at back for England in tournaments.

They didn't show a single one on the TV, just kept panning to 'attractive' female Tunisia fans.

Great city. The people are really friendly. Leaving tomorrow night for Moscow. Presenting a jumper from one of the schools in Cov that I teach at to a local kids orchestra tomorrow. Plenty of links between the two cities. Can you recommend anywhere?

We sold 1800 plus those that bought direct through FIFA so probably around 2500. Not bad really. Belgium only sold 311 for their game today. Something that has been reported is the amount the USA have sold despite not qualifying. By far the most from any country. They’re not Americans though. All seem to be Mexicans that live there.

The city centre is nice. When you get out into the sticks it is a lot more impoverished for sure.

You seen the building riddle with bullet holes from World War II?

This was the most intact building left after World War II and they have left it unchanged.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but interesting all the same.

Can ask my wife's sister if she is free if you want any guidance. She speaks excellent English and is incredibly well informed.

She teaches in Volgograd, but also works as a guide.

She would be happy to show you places if you wish.

Wife says the panorama of the Stalingrad battle is very good.

That's in the city centre.

I can ask her sister, Natasha about other places too.

But there is little end product - I see Sterling get far more criticism than Lingard does. I didn't think either were particularly good last night.

What a hero Harry Kane is

He did his job...he didn't excel, rescue captives or put fires out. He opportunistically put the ball in the net like he does week in-week out. He appeared a reasonable captain...kept the momentum up for the most part.

Just think 'hero' is overstating things.

It’s a split second thing - the potential penalty was called for a potential handball.

The system doesn’t work for many reasons

As in cricket refs will end up absolving responsibility but unlike cricket this is a stupid system. For offsides and goal line then use it but for fouls let each team have two appeals to question a decision

Completely agree with this. Could use an NFL type system where they throw a flag so the game can continue and review at the next stoppage.

Yes played really well early on...apart from the bit that really matters - we MUST start making more of our chances. They are gonna become fewer the further we progress...in fact Beyond the Panama game

That seems a bit harsh. We completely outplayed them and but for some poor finishing would have won by a comfortable margin. Tunisia are no mugs, in their last 3 games before the tournament they drew with Portugal, drew with Turkey and had a narrow 1-0 loss to Spain. We don't have a God given right to smash 4 or 5 past these teams. They're here on merit and are the number 1 ranked team in Africa.

Kind of what Kane does though, like a lot of top strikers. Anonymous until he pops up and scores. To be fair to him, he should've had 2 penalties so could have had 4 goals.

All in all I thought we played well and - penalty aside - were very comfortable. Better finishing and officiating on another day would have seen us win by 4 or 5. Arguably the most convincing performance I've seen in the tournament so far.

Just seen Kanes second and like last night I'm wondering was the Goalie a little suspect and static ,taking nothing away from Kane himself of course he did the bizz!

It was such a clever finish. Baffled the keeper I think. Very intelligently played.
