Not too sure what Declan Rice does or has ever done to get into the England squad. A bit like Eric Dier.

It's pretty boring.

Roy Keane was right. Pretty meaningless, like pre season game.

Harry Kane will have scored around 70 goals by the time he reaches 100 caps going off his current rate.

That's incredible and he will no doubt end up England's all time top scorer

Not the best of games. Had a friendly feel to it. What a place this is. Lovely people that are desperate to pay for your drink and food & randomly hug you or shake your hand in the street. They applauded everything our team did as much as they did for their own.

Any nice, single women looking for an Englishman to spend the rest of their lives with?

I know qualifiers are always a bit patchy but Kane scoring in every game and us finishing on +31 goal difference is pretty impressive. I wasn't enthused about 2020 with it not having a host and just being everywhere but looking forward to it now. Can't be modest about expectations any more though if we're to keep going, although there are most likely 4+ teams better than us we've got to be getting to the semi-finals.

It is as good as in many ways.

England certainly need to stiffen their defence. It is clearly an Achilles heel.

I wonder if Tomori will come good enough to get a starting role.

I like how Chelsea have been given no choice but to play these talented young players they'd otherwise send away on loan every year until they sell them to Bournemouth, and they're all excelling. Maybe there's something in that

Yup. Man City should play their academy.

They don't have to play them. Azpilicueta, Batshuayi and Giroud are all getting less game time. They're getting in as they're better players.

They are, but I don't think that would have been realised if Chelsea were free to buy in replacements for those players instead.

That could well be true. It is interesting though how many players that are playing the top two divisions in the top European nations have come through Chelsea’s youth system. They get a lot of stick but if their aim is for their players to make it as professionals they’re doing a good job aren’t they? There’s a lot of players in their system and a relatively high percentage of them will be playing at the highest level for years after leaving.

Very true. I don't know how the average Chelsea fan feels as they may be expectant of spending big on superstars, but if my club had such a productive academy and were in a position to not have to sell those players on I'd want a team full of them. Probably a bit of an old-fashioned concept though as it doesn't really happen much any more

We'll never have a better opportunity to win the Euros with so many games being held at Wembley.
I think the key missing ingredient is a creative midfielder.
Maybe Maddison could fill that role, but he seems our of favour at the moment.

France and Belgium are clearly favourites but as well as them there are 5 or 6 that should fancy their chances of winning. We’re certainly one of them. Southgate is on his 3rd system at present. We may need a 4th to get the best out of Maddison.

I am still hoping Phil Foden gets a chance. Pep Guardiola rates him incredibly highly.

He's only 19. He's also made 22 appearances in the Premier League.

22 appearances looks okay but then you take a closer look and it’s only 400 minutes in them 22 games. 30 minutes in 4 Premier League games this season.

When he calls him the ‘most talented player’ he’s ever seen but gives him 1 minute against Palace, 14 against Villa and 6 against Southampton in games you would expect Man City to cruise the old conspiracy theorist in me wonders if he’s saying these things to avoid another Sancho moment happening

He clearly is a very talented player.

Look at some of the talent that Man City have that don't make the starting 11.

I take your point for sure, but Covmark was saying that Pep doesn't play him and he clearly does.

its another one of those dumb moans from negative fans that isnt true

he has played in cups, premier league and champions league, he trains with pep freaking guardiola every day.

BUT NO HE NEEDS TO ABROAD LIKE SANCHO INNIT

2 different paths, both are benefiting them, one isnt right and the other wrong

Makes you wonder how much of an incentive foreign managers have to develop English players.
After all, they will be possibly be competing for England against their country in future tournaments.

I don’t think a manager would not select a player because they might play against the country they’re from in tournaments..

Back in around 2005 ish when 'the golden generation' were busy losing 1-0 to Northern Ireland, I have to say I was cheering on the Irish. Those overpaid idiots lost my respect thst day. Similar to Iceland game... so bad it was funny.

What a bizarre thing to say. Pep‘s country won’t be at the World Cup or Euros for quite some time. Foden will probably be a manager himself by the time that happens (if it ever does).

That is now the most anti Spanish person you’ll find anywhere who has been fined tens of thousands of Euros for saying he isn’t Spanish?
