When we were in the PL previously we normally got off to a decent start however bad the season eventually turned out. Even in our relegation year after losing our opener at HR with a poor display against Middelsbrough, we proceeded to then win 2 away games that followed.

The league have been tremendously harsh with their fixtures Which has given some other team to gain confidence well just have to suck it up for now and wait for the collapse/stutter to come, not that that will define our season, their still plenty of others with ropey management.

Just looking at Sunderland as our benchmark because they did very well last season as a promoted team. I've compared their results from last season(s) and this is how it looks like so far. Their results were

*HULL (lost) 1-0 in 2024/25
MAN CITY (lost) 3-0
Games were played on different dates of the season - not back to back

*Hull are a difficult team to beat. Ipswich only managed to beat them 1-0 last season with 61% possesion, 7 shots on target to Hull's 0

I saw a different team against Man City and it was just whiskers from being at least a draw. It has shown we are not a poor side even with new recruits finding their feet. We were at times very good. Play with that same emotion each week and we will win plenty and draw a few. Once we get points on the board for our efforts you will see the team grow in stature. We have a deep strong squad compared to last years winning side with like for likes on the bench. Will be interesting to see who surfaces and becomes part of the first 11 pick. Watching Milan improve over the first two games was a typical sign of settling in. Competition for places is high...the next few starting 11's we will see a pattern emerge. I'd like to see a bit of Sakamotto and Torp's technical ability getting opportunity and Hamer perhaps fill in for Grimes maybe? And where's Eccles?
