They did it up to 2010 when successive Chris Coleman failures saw them turn off the tap and switch to trying to hijack the stadium. The amounts of money you estimate there I think are about right and really would have us above the ‘ceiling’ of 12th.

You have to speculate to accumulate.

Any other team it'd be a mad conspiracy, but I can't get past the nagging doubt we've smelled blood with Wasps, manipulated a situation to squeeze them, and if Hyam is collateral damage than so be it.

As I said, any other club this would be totally mental. It says a lot for our's that I even entertain it as a possibility!

Honestly what the fuck are the owners plans? They obviously can’t compete higher than this level and they’re not getting the stadium, so surely time to sell?

Sisu are waiting for wasps to fail which hands the lease back to the ccc. Then the club will be at it highest value to sell as the stadium would be on the table for any potential buyer.

Sisu selling Hyam could be part of this strategy but truly with to these owners anything is possible but sadly not in a good way.

Losing 2 of our 3 games this season because the goalie has a mare = our business model doesn’t work in the championship

Year on year improvement for half a decade, culminating in a top half championship finish last season = luck

Gotcha

because they are guaranteed to make profit on their stock, whereas ours is far more variable. Not the best comparison.

Once again I see those dreaded words "Speculate to accumulate"

Bury did that. They had owners who really cared and wanted success, and I remember they were held up by some on here as a great example. All they accumulated were debts which led to those owners giving up and a downward spiral to oblivion.

Tim Fisher told us a few season ago that the model of selling players to fund the club's operating expenses wouldn't work in the Championship, but nobody believes what Fisher said.

And as for the so called Brentford model, remember that Brentford ditched their academy as it wasn't generating enough decent players for the money it cost them. I see that they are starting up another Academy, now they can afford it.

And while I'm on a rant I saw someone said that SISU were "trousering" the money from the sale of Dom Hyam. If the club needs that money to cover operational costs, as we are led to believe, SISU won't see any of it, except in the sense that they don't have to find that money to cover the losses.

Thank you for your patience

It was in response to the comment “if we are sustainable, why are we selling players?” The point being that you have to sell commodity to be sustainable.

It’s ludicrous to expect us to just let every player whittle down their contract and leave for free. We have to sell some players at some point and getting seven figures for a guy signed as development in league 2 has been good business and the only viable (and sustainable) way in which we can run.

Would be interesting to know his current and proposed salary, and how much we have spent in salary on him for last 5 years or so.
He's put in a fantastic shift and is a legend but he is certainly not irreplaceable and I'm sure they have a ready made alternative lined up.
If they don't reinvest then I fear Robins might be tempted by another Championship club if they come knocking.
I refuse to believe even SISU don't want to slow momentum of team and see clubs value decline.
Im going to relax and see what happens this week before TDD on Thursday.

It's our third season in the Championship and the club is now entirely reliant on average loan signings and free agents and sales are being pushed through without the blessing of the manager - who for all intents and purposes has been purported to have total say on who's sold - with little to no investment back into the playing squad.

In the medium term investment into the playing squad is required to remain competitive in the Championship and Robins has received none. That's an objective fact.

There's zero model or strategy in place now, it's sell what's available in order to balance the books and hope Robins does the best he can with what little he has at its disposal. It's a disastrous position to be in frankly as the progress made over the past two seasons is on the verge of being completely undone.

Think hyam is the anchor at the back alongside fadz they have been 2 great signings.hyam will be a huge loss.
Budget wise the club are back to the days of Presley and mowbray and no budget at all on the back of record S/T sales.
That's Disgusting.

Year on year improvement has been catalysed by investment back into the playing squad when sales have been made.

That re-investment has clearly stopped due to an urgent need to cover operational costs which vastly exceed turnover.

Selling intangible assets to remain solvent is fundamental to our business model - no one with sense is saying otherwise. We're in this position because no sales have been made in two seasons.

However reinvestment back into the playing side of things is vital to ensuring that the conveyor belt of talent being brought in continues and by association the all important revenue stream of player sales.

Selling assets then replacing them with frees or god forbid loans is completely unsustainable and suggests there is now no model in place but rather the club has hit a ceiling and effectively cannot afford to operate in the league.

We are making a profit on any player we care about in that we would like to keep them... also they aren't guaranteed to make a profit on stock if it goes past its sell by date without being sold or is damaged or stolen... not the best argument. A sale was inevitable as it is for most clubs. I think we wanted different players to leave in truth but that's the way it goes sometimes.

“That re-investment has clearly stopped”… we only sold him yesterday ffs I’m done with this site after a loss. People lose all sense.
See you all after our next win (when suddenly autos will be back on and anything less is a failure). Mad lot some of you.

This is nothing to do with yesterday's loss, the writing has been on the wall for some time. The January transfer window gave us a glimpse of things to come

And we know that the money won't be reinvested because the manager said so, or don't you believe him?

The club turned down offers for certainly Hamer and O'Hare because they weren't anywhere near their overinflated value.

For what it's worth Burnley may have met the club's valuation if it were not for his injury but that's just sheer bad luck.

Regardless, that has clearly caused the club to panic which has led to the Hyam sale and likely will lead to another in this window or in January as whatever they've received for him likely isn't enough to bridge the gap this season.

Do you think they are trying to bridge the gap for the season or the gap caused by the cancelled games, (or perhaps a combination of both)?

Hasn't Robins said he'll only be able to bring in a free agent to replace Hyam?

This isn't anything about the results, I've been saying this for months.

People are only now waking up to the seriousness of our situation.

The sale of Hyam will be to solve short term cash flow issues this month, cover pitch costs and perhaps contribute towards the instalments on Gyokeres and Sheaf as surely they're due pretty much now.

The next sale will be used to bridge the gap.

Yes I see it all now

Robins “where’s all the lads why aren’t they in for training”

Boddy “Harvey from SBT said we need to be like tescos”

Robins “what have you done now”

Boddy “stock clearance sale I’ve sold everyone - well no one wanted Jamie I think he must be running late”

I want them to act like owners of a football club not a bank of last resort giving pay day loans then asking for them back in a few months

Negative spend isn’t the issue. Look at yesterdays opponents as an example of that
